Ah so bluebeastsrt you know Pat too. So you think is worth following up on the fake Cobra wheels mentioned here (9.5") and going with 17s? and a softer MT tire?

But that would not fix the possible unloading problem. His car is a base GT. So in the 1-2 shift the suspension rebounding too much?

He launches okay (low 1.8 is a good 60' for him), his big problem is second gear.

BTW I am a big fan of the last Mustang update. It is a much better car. I want one of each.
I don't know if you looked at my 9.5 wheels with the 305s last time we were at the track. I was getting 1.68-1.71 consistently so I don't think the tires are his issue other than he needs a wider wheel to get all the tire to touch the concrete. His problem seams to be the 1st to second gear shift where the suspension is going from being severely loaded from all that torque to being completely unloaded during the shift. Back to trying to control all that load when second gear hits. He would benefit from solid bushings and the irs cradle brace for sure. Both mods are only 300ish dollars. And by the way. Its nice to finally have a Camaro owner on this forum that's not a total douchebag.:DWelcome.

As recommended I talked to Kelly @ BMR. He said his auto GT S550 runs high 8s :hail: (or was that high 9s?) and he thinks Pats car should be fine with a measly 600 RWHP. As recommended here get 17x9.5" Wheels and 305-45-17 R MT DRs. He said using the stock (8 inch?) 18s are a no go setup, as also mentioned here. That should hold Pat's car. Then he said as I suspected looking at Pat's car stance, set the rear camber to 0.

But he said the most likely big culprit here is the tuning. If you let a 5.0 with this power just hit 2nd that is trouble. So He said the third thing is have the tune looked at to ease the shift into 2nd with a little less timing. If Pat is launching okay and not getting into second with his current setup and other well powered cars are hooking in second it's not track prep. Get that tune looked at. He also said while it would not hurt to upgrade the suspension, he does not see a big benefit with an auto at this power level.

And how do you know I'm not a total douchebag?

I mentioned that to him also last Tuesday. I know he loves Chris. But the guy is a hack. He's a bolt on guy at best.

So get this. I help Pat with Internet stuff. He is not that saavy with tech. So I research S550 drag wheels (me being a lame-ass Camaro guy) and find wheels here from you guys.

Then I call the vendor and with his help think I found some better wheels. Once the wheels come in he comes over with his GT and I pull his tire and find my cool 10.5 inch wide 17" Cobra wheels do not fit because of a very deep inner lip.

Then last night I spent a couple of hours locating similar wheels to the ones mentioned here as OE Wheels was out of them. I found several.

We made a couple of small scratches on the black paint testing the 10.5 rim so I touched that up and repacked the wheel we tested. Then it took two phone calls to get an RMA and finally today I dropped off those wheels to UPS. Phew.

No to mention I bothered all of you and BMR with my dumb-ass questions.

So today I call Pat and tell him what BMR Kelly said about the tune.

He says "Oh yea, that kid who tuned my car told me he just needed to adjust the timing to soften the shifts to finish the tune". But I said, "Nah let me see what I can do with the most power." :headbonk::headbonk::headbonk::headbonk::headbonk::headbonk:

Pat really wants to put the hurting on his old car a 10 second 2013 auto GT he sold to a friend who also comes to Atco. That kid was the owner of All Out Automotive.

So in the end he says yeah, I think I'll ask him to go ahead and adjust the timing.

Pat, ya gotta love him. :) Sorry for the long read, I just had to share.

Oh you guys might enjoy this old thread of mine where I started racing Pat. He is crafty, don't misunderestimate him.

Now that I have my new '16 SS I beat Pat's new super Stang as I left him for dead fighting 2nd gear. Once he gets his tune fixed I will be SOL.

I really can't say. I have tried to get Pat to try another shop/tuner. Who is the best in the South Jersey area? Evolution?
Thats a tough one. I used Radical for my race car. Craig does nice work if you don't mind not driving your car for the next 2 years. I'm currently working with absolute auto. They seam good. I can't comment on anyone else really. The guy that owns Kaspers korner is a flaming asshole. I'd never do business with him just based on how he treats people.

Do you have a link to any wheel that fits. Offset and lug pattern?
