You'll get used to it, just be careful at first and leave the nannies on.

Before you know it, you'll be drifting the thing like it's on ice even when it's not. :D

I took at GT auto out with 3.55 gears last weekend. Guy had me punch it on the on-ramp with a decent turn and it held really well never felt loose...we were doing about 60 at least.

Don't let people scare you. This was my first 400hp+ hell 200hp+ car ..and also learned to drive manual in it. Haven't crashed yet..and i like to drive fun. As long as you're not being an idiot in it, you'll be fine.. even if you get the occasional fishtail out of a green light xD

Just make sure the PZero tires on the GT PP are warmed up before playing, and if under 50 degrees outside be real careful on the stock Pzero tires.

+1 on taking it to the track though. I took my ecoboost to the track last year a learned a lot. Have yet to take the GT to the track, but I'm looking forward to it. The stuff I learned at the track about handling at the limit (NASA, not NHRA, btw :p) really does translate to the road - finishing braking before a turn, not shifting in a turn, easing into the throttle out of the turns, etc. - learning to drive smoothly, basically. What surprised me initially, though in retrospect, it makes perfect sense, is how driving my car at the track applied to driving it in the snow - limit of traction and all.

I missed this month's NASA event, but you bet your ass I'll be at next month's! Plus, it's FUN!

My first 400hp+ car and as long as you aren't a complete disaster of a driver and add some common sense, you'll be perfectly fine.

I went from an automatic Volvo wagon to the manual Mustang GT. I was scared to death of it for first couple of weeks. lol! More so, because it was pretty rainy those first couple of weeks. But I'd spent a week or so here educating myself before I took delivery. I'm sure that helped me to keep things well in order.

I've only got about 3K on my car and have just recently started putting it in Sport+ more often. I much prefer the throttle response and tighter steering driving it in Sport+. :D I haven't used track mode yet, but I'm going to be doing a HPDE day this summer, so I'm looking forward to trying it out there!

I'm kinda glad I didn't get the PP, though. (Although I would have liked to have the Brembos.) As a daily driver, the non-PP I think is a bit more civilized and more than enough performance or me. :)

I don't know if your the only one that will be driving your GT or not, but I ended up choosing the Ecoboost because I knew my wife wouldn't be able to handle the GT. It's just not in her DNA and I care more about her safety then an extra hundred HP.

The nanny systems have saved my can atleast twice from what would have been serious wrecks. I learned really quick that you can't mash the gas, you have to ease it down. It's been a few months and I've done quite a few rear suspension mods and maybe that's helped plus more experience driving it.

I find a good rule to use in public roads with RWD & power is: Any amount of steering = NO WOT! If you do, make sure you are prepared and aware of your surroundings. Learn when to react and not overdoing it. With good temps, it's actually hard to get em loose going straight. Enjoy!

I'll assume from your description you are a l.e.o.. With that said it is very easy to lose a GT if you don't respect it. Keep the stability control on (at least the first 6 months-to a year) until you learn how to drive it. Absolutely don't ever screw around with the car in the rain.

Be careful of on-ramps by not flooring it. If you can find a local SCCA(sportscar club of America)sign up for local autocrosses. Start slowly, then start going faster and faster with each autocross even. Never powershift it when going around turns. Don't ask me how I know this from my mis-spent youth.
Gonna go ahead and reinforce the "don't powershift in turns." Damn near did a 360 the first time I pulled that stunt... and that was WITH traction control on. Scared the sh*t out of me, but thankfully no crash or anything. Won't be doing that again...

Some good advice here - I too moved up to a GT w/PP. My last rear wheel non-truck (F-150) was a '95 Mustang GTS with all of 215hp BUT no nannies at ALL. Talk about tail happy.

My last car was a modified Taurus SHO w/450hp - but it had AWD so it could put the power down and stay on line easily. The GT is a bit different but you will get used to it. Pay heed to the cold and wet comments - it almost got me on an on ramp that is a bit twisty and is fun to run up - the SHO handled it in the wet easily, the Mustang well thank goodness for Traction Control.

My previous vehicle was (kept it ) a 236hp tacoma.it has no passing power. This GT is a monster for me. Soooo much fun, but I've just been pushing it here and there in places where I can do it safely. I've learned a lot in 10 dayd.

I will say though..the first few times I went heavy in 2nd gear my arms were shaking afterward. Such a totally different experience driving a true sportscar.
