Me and my dad are looking into buying a 2016 V6, and he recently tagged me in a post about a ProCharger for the V6. The article claimed to have power gains of 50-60% more power. They said it would make nearly 400RWHP. I know the EcoBoost comes with a turbo stock, and has the potential to upgrade the turbo, but personally we dont like that sound of the ecoboost at all, even with a exhaust. I know thats a small factor, and I know the ecoboost has more potential for better handling and a premium package, but I live in a town without any backroads so we are primarily focused on quick acceleration more than anything. So I wanted to get some input on what you guys think. We would probably buy the V6 and then get the procharger sometime in the future, but do you guys think it is worth it? Any and all input is appreciated!

the sound is one reason I went V6, absolutely couldn't take the EB sound....and that's coming from a guy who had 2 older turbo 2.3's (different motor) the V6 has potential, especially supercharged. even still, low 13's are possible with just basic bolt ons. the EB is going to be about the same stock, but there are some really really quick EB's with just a tune and a few parts. that being said....if the sound makes you vomit in your mouth like it does for me, theres no amount of power that can make up for that lol. comes down to personal preference, but the 3.7 is a great motor, and can make a lot of power with forced induction

Sounds like your already leaning towards the v6....I went through this struggle myself and I got the v6 but then I realized I wanted more power and a car i could really get the most bang for my buck out of so I sold my v6 and got my EB. Yes the v6 did sound better but I was willing to overlook exhaust sound for the power potential plus I love hearing my turbo. I weighed in on the fact I could get a procharger for my v6 and make it faster but the setup is expensive and it just wasn't worth it to me. But really it all comes down to what you like. The v6 is a great car with a strong motor and the EB is a fun car with a tune and bolt ons. You really can't go wrong with either one if your planning to mod it to 400+hp!

Thanks Joe! Yeah I mean I am only 19 and cant afford a Mustang by myself, and my dad was really leaning towards the V6. I think the EB is an amazing car too, especially with a tune and stuff, but I really just like the V6's sound much better. I know I would probably save more money if I got a EB and upgraded the turbo and tuned it, but I think the ProCharged V6 would be good too. Also, how is the EB's power band tuned VS stock? Ive heard that it feels really flat at the top of the RPM range without a tune.

If you are not tuning the car then do not get the EB it falls flat after 5500 rpm's in stock form. Ford was really conservative with the stock tune. Once it's tuned though it pulls pretty well all the way to redline (6500) rpm's I think maybe slightly higher also the torque is awesome! The v6 isn't much without a tune either but I will agree it does sound better and is a great daily driver. Like I said just get whatever you feel your going to like the most and think about what are your plans for the car. You only get one chance so think hard about which one to get! Lol don't be like most of us on this forum and regret our initial choices.

whats your reasoning for not just getting a GT and being where you want out of the box with full warranty? I definitely could be wrong but wouldn't you be at the same cost or more with a v6 plus supercharger compared to a GT? Insurance I guess but IMO maintaining the warranty is well worth a little insurance premium

He is 19 his insurance would probably be sky high for a GT.

Well it sounds like his dad is helping him out a lot so if they are on the same plan it wouldn't be bad. I've had high performance cars since I was 17 and it was about a 40$ difference a month(I'm 22 now). Its worth at least getting the quotes if you haven't OP

by the way, nothing against the 6 or EB at all, but if i knew i was going to mod that heavy right away why not start out ahead of the curve

I dont like when people dismiss the 3.7 as a performance motor....will it ever stack up to the 5.0 mod for mod...absolutely not....but it makes as much power as the old cobra, mach1, and 3v gt...amd its a very well made motor with a great power band. It gets great mileage...and only weighs 10 to 15lbs more than the EB. Sure, the procharger is freakin expensive, and its not as easy to get power out of like the eb, but its still a great motor in a great car. A couple years ago everybody was praising the 3.7 for beeing a afordable performance car, now its the red headed step child. I didnt buy a gt because its almost 10k more...im a single income dad with 3 kids and a expedition im still paying for...i just couldnt swing it. Even still, i love my v6...its faster than any of the gt cars ive had in the past...and i like the challenge, and i like beeing differnt..since not many guys are going the v6 route with the s550

The reason is that the v6/ecoboost lies in sports car category while GT shares the insuranse rate of M4s and C63s so...
