2016 EcoBoost Mods so far after 3 weeks ownership

Interesting on the MBRP choice, is it the Street or Race? I know the Race has 3" pipes and some say that causes drone in the cabin.
When i get my car back from its latest incursion i was considering the MBRP Race, Magnaflow Competition or local Exhaust place who custom builds system for American cars.
Magnaflow is almost double the price of the MBRP, but i've read a few stories now about the drone & the build quality not quite being there. Custom built exhaust is going to be £600, i have no way of knowing what its going to sound like because they custom build their mufflers. They do have a sterling reputation up here though & did say if i didn't like the sound they can make some modifications to change it.

I have the street for my GT because the Race versions for both the GT and EB have noticeable drone from what I can tell. The street is almost as loud but you can only hear drone if it's pin drop quiet in the cabin. Build quality on mine is fine - the tips looks excellent out the box and the welds are nice and even.

Yes it's the race version stainless steel throughout with 3"pipes better air flow, the cabin drone is not bad I fact I can confidently say it's the right choice for the Eco boost, easy install bolt off bolt on.

Americanmuscles website says Tune required for the Roush

Roush normally supply an insert for the maf tube to keep maf housing diameter size same as stock, at which point no tune required but the gains are minimal of around 5-10BHP.

However if you remove the insert and get a tune, I'd go with Roush or Mountune than you can gain upto 50-60BHP/lbft in mid-range where you need it and around 20-30 peak.

The 2.3l gives much great gains from a map than the 5.0l my worry would be is quite a few of the 2.3l have blown up even stock. So to be honest I'd not be touching the engine with intakes or tunes unless it carried a Ford warranty. I believe Mountune is now available with CAI and tune including warranty in the UK and Roush will also be available soon in the UK as well at select dealerships.

Completely agree with this. Turbo engines not to be messed with without backup.

He started it up so I could hear it. I asked his opinion re warranty & exhausts- he advised that if any warranty work needed to be done on the engine, they would want standard exhaust back on the car. My car hopefully will be here beginning of May which is earlier than expected ( on a boat today).

Personally I can only talk for the ecoboost inside the cabin in America. It sounded loud. Not v8 loud, but it didn't feel like I was in my corsa that's for sure and you can hear the turbos spool - not everyone's cup or tea but I like it.
Outside my mother who was with me her first reactions were "wow it looks way nicer than I expected" and "that car is so loud you're going to piss the neighbours off"

That being said my neighbour has an M4 and a 1500cc dune buggy which are both ridiculously loud. So, ecostang with its probably miltek exhaust (when [MENTION=19807]SteveP[/MENTION] comes back to me, hint hint nudge nudge) should be louder, deeper tone with more snaps and crackles. (Personal preference don't judge!)

I like the sound of the Milltek as well. My neighbours are used to loud vehicles as I have two Ducati motorbikes with race Termignoni exhausts on - don't usually get any complaints as I dont rev them up too much at home. A couple of neighbours also have bikes as well so on a sunny Sunday morning it's a bit like a small bike meet! My next door neighbour did comment a few years ago how nice my new bike sounded - it was standard (& very quiet) at the time as was being run in. At first service on went titanium Akrapovic race exhaust & they never commented on how nice it was sounding after then! I think my neighbours would be disappointed if the Mustang had the standard exhaust on it!

My neighbours are the same. Next door neighbour's have a Lotus Exige S and Pug 205 GTi, another neighbour has a Honda S2000 that is so clean it looks like it rolled off the production line two hours ago, one neighbour makes model petrol powered planes and is a retired auto mechanic, and the retired couple at the top of the cul-de-sac have a modified VW Pheaton (silver wrap on the roof, bonnet and deck-lid, black BBS wheels, tune on the V6 turbo diesel, its mad)

Leaving my Mustang with the stock pipes would be very out of character with the street it seems.
