GT PP Tire options and wheels ?

You think the damned difference in mileage when the Pirellis are worn out could be the turns and type of road where the particular car is driven!

This would depend on how the car is driven. I just had my 18x8 OEM wheels/Pirelli tires rotated yesterday for the first time at 10,900 miles and there is a good amount of tread left on them. In fact, 11/64" according to my digital caliper. That's exactly half the original depth of 11/32" and leaves me with 7/64" of tread remaining before the recommended depth to change your tires.

FWIW, I don't race or do burnouts either so I'm sure that has a lot to do with their longevity so far. Are the Neros a 40,000 mile tire? Of course not, but I'll be happy if I can get 16 or 18k total out of them.

You can't compare the regular 18" GT tires to the Performance Package tires.
I have both.
My car is a regular 5.0 with automatic that came with the standard 18" tires and wheels. Because I feel the wheels that came with mine are ugly I bought a set of take-off 19" GT Performance Package tires and wheels from somebody posting here. They took off their new PP's and put on aftermarket stuff with just a very few miles on the car so I got essentially new PP tires. Still had the rubber nubs.

My driving style is real easy with no hard acceleration and no hard cornering. The PP set was on my car last summer and fall then I switched back to the factory 18" setup for the winter.
The 19" PP tires are almost to the wear bars after just a hair over 5000 miles.
The factory 18" all season tires got about 4000 miles put on them over the winter and look like they have minimal wear. They even still have the nubs on the sidewall near the tread that gets worn off the first time you corner hard.

The short story on my rambling post is that the 19" PP tires are a really soft compound that probably will not get 10,000 miles of use even with babying the car to the max. but the 18" tires should be good for at least 30,000 miles.

Pirelli is recently owned by a state-owned Chinese chemical company. Even if they were the best tires on earth, I hate supporting a state-owned company.

I always try to pick first from the USA-based companies, which isn't always fruitful. I recently purchased Pirelli tires for my Volt, but those were designed before the acquisition and manufactured before the new company could drop quality (if they plan to). They were EXCELLENT tires with an 80K treadwear warranty! Dang.

That's a damned shame about Pirelli. Then again, it's getting tougher every year to buy products that aren't made in China. I will definitely look into Goodyear and Cooper the next time I need tires. I really like the Continental Extreme Contact DW summer tires though, and it does appear that at least some of the sizes they make here in the U.S. However, Continental also sells tires in the U.S. that were manufactured in Brazil, Portugal, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Mexico and Romania.

Correct , but I know the 17s won't fit the PP brakes , some ? (all?) the 18s are too small ?

I am guessing all the 19s and 20s fit .

Foregstar CF5's fit if I remember correctly in 18s.

OEM S197 track pack wheels clear the front Brembos, thats my current winter setup and they're cheap now days.
