Wife drives a Eco. I'm getting a 17 GT. I drive the Eco when "we" go places. 17,000 on it now. Just went to Biloxi MS for the weekend.
1. Love the car, handles great, comfortable, made 33mpg this weekend. No dislikes
2. She cared none about power, I do. T4 for her 5.0 for me (I like the eco power)
3. Yes, right back in a Eco.
4. Only issue is a high pressure automatic car wash. Window seal has one spot that will make a drip inside. No other issues.

The questions for Ecoboost owners

1) What do you like/dislike the most about it?

I like the looks and drivability of the car. Has good power for a 4 cylinder with a turbo. Not really a dislike, but still getting used to the big hood and the bigger size of the car overall. I get anxiety trying to park in certain parking lots and parallel parking sometimes.


2) If you were considering both models, are you happy that you went with the EB?

Due to my situation at the time, I couldn't afford the GT, but wanted premium interior, so went with the EB premium. I am happy with the EB, but like some other EB owners, I now crave for the GT.

3) If yours got totaled today, would you buy the same thing or not? If not, why not?

The EB would be in the running, but I'd definitely take time to look at other choices within my budget.

4) Have you experienced any problems or service issues? Did Ford handle them to your satisfaction?

I've only put 1500 miles on my car. Haven't developed any issues yet. Haven't had any service from Ford so far.

1. Performance with MPG all wrapped up in a beautiful package.
2. Absolutely happy with the EB, there is more than enough power to loosen the rear end when the feel bubbles up.
3. Yes I would buy the same thing, I would however buy the PP option. Though I don't like the black wheels(absolutely personal preference) I do like some of the upgrades, radiator, brakes etc.
4. No problems 6K miles.

I like your thread as you haven't gotten all the GT buyers calling them a P.O.S. like your friend. I sometimes think I am the only person who likes a quiet drive, if you read all the GT people they want to hear it roar. Meh for me I love the car on long drives as it is civilized and fuel efficient. I have done some tests at 74 MPH obviously above the speed limit but safe-ish I get 33.3-33.4 MPG. Overall I have gotten 28 MPG which is basically like your driving plus a few long trips. I think the feel of the ECO is easier to go to from a front wheel drive car as it is more balanced. I just uncovered mine from it's long winters nap and it was a joy to get in. Like I said I would get the PP option for some of the other features other than tires, I think it is a better set of options to build from.

Not an owner but was looking at an EB and am going with the GT when the refresh comes out. Looked at the EB hard when it first came out and did multiple test drives/lots of research.

The big thing that stood out for me was the gas/mpg/cost.

1. Real world MPG with the turbos are usually never close to what they promise. Seen enough in the MPG thread and also articles to sway me.

2. You have to run PREMIUM in the EB to get the HP/TQ. If not, you lose something like 15% HP...dropping it to around 279HP on regular.

3. Premium costs in the EB vs running regular gas in the GT basically end up a wash with almost the exact same MPG per $ spent. You'll have to fill up more often in the GT but over 5 years the difference in cost was something like $450 dollars.

With those 3 things, it just pushed me into the GT category because I was like "There isn't much benefit of being in the 4 other then the $ savings up front" ... Not looking back unless a Turbo 6 shows up.

Just food for thought.

I like the sound of the Turbo with a MMR Intake. I dislike everything else associated with the engine... power drop at 5500rpm, limp mode pushing it hard, heat soak, DI ticking, PCV issues, carbon build up issues, awful exhaust note, unknown reliability into the future.

2) If you were considering both models, are you happy that you went with the EB?
No.. I wanted a GT, insurance kept me out of that. I then thought to purchase a V6 Manual with 3.55 gears.. I decided to go for what everyone said was the "enthusiast" platform and I planned on going fast so I got an auto. I originally wanted to do FMIC, Tune, Intake, Plugs and eventually a turbo swap.. I quickly changed my mind and now am looking to trade in a few years for a GT Lol.. if insurance is still too high then I'm getting a V6.. maybe I'll look at the Camaro as well..

3) If yours got totaled today, would you buy the same thing or not? If not, why not?
No.. if my car got totaled today I'd probably buy a used Fusion.. what you think, I'm made out of money? Lol.

4) Have you experienced any problems or service issues? Did Ford handle them to your satisfaction?
I have experienced the car going into limp mode several times just from flooring it in everyday driving.. not racing or anything. To be fair however it had the MMR CAI and while most say a CAI does not add much power I do feel quite a difference on the butt dyno... and it spins the tires more easily with the CAI.

As for service.. I have received zero god damn service.. but that's not the cars fault, it's the dealers. My car is getting really bad gas mileage, I'm filling up every 5-6 days and I barely drive it (3,350 miles since October 10th 2015).. I'm averaging about 11-12mpg city. Highway I can get 35mpg easy but I hardly drive on highways as I live in a major city and my commute is short. That being said I asked for a diagnostic and warranty work to fix my hood alignment as well as asked them to look into the SYNC issues with bluetooth.. instead it took them 3 hours to change my oil and rotate my tires and they didn't even check the tire pressures as all 4 corners are off.. they're 31, 33, 34, 35 and that bugs the hell out of me... anyway I have to take it to the dealer again and schedule another appointment (can't just show up) to try and get my hood fixed and maybe my engine checked...

Like: My EB gets reasonably good gas mileage as a daily driver. I've gotten as high as 33 on the highway, but at the end of the day my combined is 24. Also it is very peppy for an eco model.
Dislike: While owning many Mustangs over the past few years, I continue to struggle with the fact the exhaust is just too darn quiet and I haven't found a good aftermarket exhaust yet.

2) If you were considering both models, are you happy that you went with the EB?

For the most part I am happy with the car. Every so often I think about if I would have been happier with the GT.

That's a tough one. I imagine since it would still be my DD I would stick with the EB>

I am just short of 12,000 miles and I've only noticed a glitch or two from time to time. Nothing serious, just annoyances. Only time the EB was in the shop was to take care of the recalls.

A: Like - The car is overall very balanced. Its enough power to put a smile on your face and the handling is sublime. Love me some turbo spool sounds!
Dislike - Stock exhaust note, gas mileage (after over 7k miles, my trip 2 reads 19.2 mpg)

Q: If you were considering both models, are you happy that you went with the EB?
A: Yes, although I sometimes wonder if I should have gone V6 since I was getting a base anyways. However, I really do enjoy the look on faces when I explain that its a 4-banger mustang.

A: Same thing in the same exact color.

A: None, she's been rock solid so far.

The questions for Ecoboost owners

1) What do you like/dislike the most about it?

The sound of the turbo is cool. Otherwise, it doesn't seem to do anything that well. It doesn't rev high, but it doesn't have tons of torque either. The low end torque (under 2000rpm) isn't that great, even compared to other boosted 4 cylinders.

Fuel economy on the MT is about 24-25 combined if you drive it the way it's meant to be driven.

The sound really gets on your nerves after a while. The turbo sounds good, but not anything else.

It's too heavy to be a lightweight sporty coupe (it's not a BRZ) but not powerful and torquey enough to be competitive modern muscle car.

2) If you were considering both models, are you happy that you went with the EB?

No. I am trading in my 2015 Ecoboost 50 years for a 2016 Premium GT.

3) If yours got totaled today, would you buy the same thing or not? If not, why not?

See above. It's just not good at any one thing. Mediocre power, mediocre torque, mediocre fuel economy, mediocre sound.

4) Have you experienced any problems or service issues? Did Ford handle them to your satisfaction?

No problems.

1) What do you like/dislike the most about it? Like: Everything, of course, I went from a 2004 Mini Cooper S to the EB /Dislike: Comments from people after they find out that is just a 4cyl.


2) If you were considering both models, are you happy that you went with the EB? Yes and no. I really wanted the GT. The problem was my wife wanted me to get an automatic so she could drive the car also. There was no way I was going to buy a GT with an automatic trans.



3) If yours got totaled today, would you buy the same thing or not? If not, why not? Yes, just a different color.



4) Have you experienced any problems or service issues? Did Ford handle them to your satisfaction? Only a 1000 miles so far this year. No issues.

I like how it is an oddball mustang. I like how it has an approachable amount of power stock and I can increase power as I improve as a driver. I dislike the exhaust sound the most. I also dislike having to short-shift at 5500 RPM (stock turbo)

2) If you were considering both models, are you happy that you went with the EB?
I am happy I went with the EB over the GT. I like the improved weight balance. Not once have I been on a canyon road and wished I had more power.

3) If yours got totaled today, would you buy the same thing or not? If not, why not?
I'd probably stick with the EB.

4) Have you experienced any problems or service issues? Did Ford handle them to your satisfaction?
No engine related service issues.

1) What do you like/dislike the most about it?

First the power - the 310 HP. I've had a Subaru (225hp-335hp) as my only reference sports car among many other cars I've owned (20 years). The first I've owned in auto "SelectShift" which I'm pretty impressed with its speed. Secondly, the looks exterior and interior. Thoroughly impressed with the premium model (also a first for me!). The middle console and modes to choose from. The Navi with voice activation is a nice touch. The lines on the exterior and especially the tail lights are beautiful!

2) If you were considering both models, are you happy that you went with the EB?
I'm totally fine with the Ecoboost. Ideally I would own both models. Considering this is my first Mustang I'm happy it was the Ecoboost!

3) If yours got totaled today, would you buy the same thing or not? If not, why not?
Again, I would own the Ecoboost for having the best of both worlds (speed & gas economy)

4) Have you experienced any problems or service issues? Did Ford handle them to your satisfaction?

Leather seats will get warped fairly quickly. It occurred the first 2 weeks of owning and sitting in them. (I weigh 175lbs.) With Ford through the forums and regional customer manager in Northern California took care of me right away. Repadded the drivers seat and has no warping issues and is very plump now with less "stretchy look" to the seat.

The internal rattling sound issues. You will experience them yourself at one point unfortunately mine was the first night driving home in it. Solved it by the friendly folks of Mustang6G members. It was my glove compartment (even with nothing inside the compartment). I took foam tape and cut and placed 2 strips on the right side of the glove compartment. Where the glove door hits the side of the glove compartment. I have a new interior sound issue. The whistling sound that is coming from the passenger side window. I just need the sound to be replicated when I take it in to the dealership. The last time they couldn't hear it when I brought it in last.

1) What do you like/dislike the most about it?

Great DD even in Buffalo winters. Jack of all trades type of car (performance, mpg, looks).
I don't care much for the interior cracks and snap noises that randomly occur. Also, so many ppl trying to race you often gets old.

2) If you were considering both models, are you happy that you went with the EB?

For me, it was EB vs WRX. I was looking for a 25k DD. I'm not going pay much more for a car that I'm gonna be putting thru road salt filled winters.

3) If yours got totaled today, would you buy the same thing or not? If not, why not?

Not sure what I would do.

4) Have you experienced any problems or service issues? Did Ford handle them to your satisfaction?

The only problem I had was I needed my e-brake tightened up and the dealer took care of it, no fuss.
