Black wheels on DIB reads far too dark for my taste. I much prefer the gray/anthracite/gunmetal look. I found the matte charcoal stripes from BigWormGraphix are the perfect complement to my anthracite Niche Targas.

If you want to keep your silver stripes, definitely go with silver painted wheels. It will complement the stripes much better than the machined or bright finish like the OEM wheels. I'm digging the ones on the Ruby car just above. Also, I've seen the OEM luster nickel PP wheels on DIB in person and it looks phenomenal, although the PP wheels are indeed a PITA to clean.

Wrong color car but this...pics.
I do like the Durbans, but seeing them more and more, the spokes may be just a bit too thin for my liking, especially on a 20" wheel. I don't have the beautiful Brembo brakes (not yet, anyway) to show off behind such narrow spokes. Still won't rule out any wheel at this point just yet. I must admit that the silver looks really good on that ruby red.

As far as 5-spoke wheels go, I'm also REALLY into the MRR VP5. Although their spokes don't look to be much thicker than the Durbans (if at all), at least they're available in a 19" size, which doesn't look nearly as spindly to me. I'd be happy with those in a 19x8.5" squared setup or even 19x9.5" if they wouldn't rub on the front.

What you have on your DIB is just the look I'd be into, should I decide to buy darker wheels. The charcoal stripes look good with your wheels and the white pinstripes really set them off! The OEM side skirts and front chin match better with gunmetal/charcoal wheels too. I agree that pure black, whether gloss or matte, is too dark on DIB for my liking, and based on the poll so far, most other folks in here feel the same, so it's officially gone from my color options.

I'm not a fan of the "shiny face" look on wheels either. I'm merely tolerating the OEM 18's at this point because they were already on the car.

It pretty much comes down to how "loud" I want the car to look now since I would be totally fine with either silver stripes/wheels or charcoal stripes/wheels. Keeping my stripes and going with silver wheels to match would certainly make the car stand out more in a crowd, while gunmetal everything would have a more subtle "cool factor" about it. At night, you could probably not even tell the car had stripes at all, while the silver shines in any light.

I think besides the cleaning aspect, the one major thing keeping me from silver wheels is the fact that down the road I would possibly like to get some carbon fiber parts on the car. In particular, a hood, front splitter, rear valance and spoiler. Imagining in my head what those parts would look like together with silver wheels doesn't really paint a pretty picture. With gunmetal wheels though, I can see carbon fiber parts fitting in perfectly. Of course, there are fiberglass hoods out there that look amazing on a DIB car too. I think a silver or charcoal black "super snake" style center stripe would look sweet on the car below. And yes, that IS a functional ram air hood. :D

I'm usually a fan of silver wheels (had silver on my last two mustangs) but for whatever reason they do NOT look good on a DIB S550. No idea why, but dark wheels are just the way to go on this color.

When I get new wheels (I missed the darned AM sale--so sad), I'll go gunmetal for sure. The look is perfect with DIB.

The poll is fairly close, with charcoal/gunmetal edging out silver 17 votes to 11. Thanks to everyone's input, I think I've got it narrowed down to just a few choices now. Still not sure yet on size though. I've got four options in various price ranges for each color, depending on how much I ultimately want to spend. Prices shown are for the 19" version and don't reflect any potential M6G.com promo codes. :)

If I go dark:

If I go light:

I voted silver. My personal opinion is I don't like dark wheels. I think anthracite is about as dark as I can tolerate, but I prefer silver/brushed/chrome on all colors.

My silver MMD 551c just showed up yesterday, and I'm having them installed this morning. 19x10 with 275/40/19 on all 4 corners, on my DIB gt. I'll post a picture in this thread later today so you can have a visual of a silver 5 spoke on the same color. I think it would look great with the silver stripes, and have contemplated getting silver stripes to match them as well.

That would be very helpful, thanks! I also think you'll like the silver stripes on DIB if you go that route. It's not a common color combination on the S550s, so it really draws peoples' attention! I haven't worked with bigwormgraphix.net stripe kits before, but I can say the MMD V Series kit I bought from americanmuscle.com was great quality and not difficult to apply. Time-consuming, yes because I wanted ZERO bubbles, but not difficult.

Not the best picture but Dark Stainless AMR Wheels

I think charcoal/gunmetal wheels look so good on this color (or any S550 for that matter) because they perfectly match the front chin and side skirts, which are not pitch black themselves, but more of a charcoal. Throw on some carbon fiber parts and/or charcoal stripes and that would be an awesome subdued color combo!

My 2 cents

I have a DIB with the PP Nickel Luster Wheels.

When these babies are clean they look really really good IMO.

If I ever get new wheels I think I will stay silver or maybe a brushed nickel but I like the silver/chrome/blue scheme!! Good luck deciding

I also have PP nickle luster wheels on my DIB gt, I have gotten so many compliments on them plus I think that the silver makes DIB more blue while the darker wheels makes DIB more purple.

I passed on a DIB with silver wheels. Didn't look "right" to me.
