Automatic trans issues?

Has anyone else had any issues with the auto transmission?. or is this just a random fail that happens to be published so heavy because police are using it:shrug:

Interesting how the Ford spokesperson describes the braking test as "extreme" (which the Mustang passed), but said nothing about the transmission. Just what sort of curry did they really give it?

Only issue I've had with transmission is my arm cramping up from shifting too much :lol:

On a serious note, hopefully it's not an ongoing issue for the guys that went for the auto box.

The falcons also failed tests in the past. Larger transmission coolers were required before they were accepted. I dont hear of a huge number of Falcon gear boxes shitting themselves. I wouldn't be worried.

Making a decision based on one car is ridiculous. Was the transmission set up with a larger
transmission cooler? Sounds like we are getting only half the story.

Yeah I have had a read over those forums every so often just to see if there is anything to keep an eye on.

To be honest the autos seem pretty good.... maybe a few little issues on the earlier made cars, but I havnt really heard anything that worries me at all. Nothing extremely common anyway.
Even review videos after 'x amount of time of ownership' none I have seen raise any issues with transmission....

I was surprised to read about some of the manual transmission issues, but hopefully those have been addressed too.

In short im not at all worried about the auto. Hopefully im not proven wrong. Its based on a great automatic transmission fitted to alot of top end cars.

The car is a street vehicle not a pursuit car. If that means they don't use it as a pursuit vehicle that's great news to me. Whether their reasoning for that is accurate or not I really don't care.

Its the first time I have heard of the auto trans over heating.... in 3 mins hahaha

Maybe they were testing the 0-100 times straight from the dealer

But really they either broke something minor and kept driving it, or they were doing something else stupid. I dont believe the three minute thing for a second.

I mean, this guys transmission isnt doing too well either, but there is a reason for it .....

in this article to base an opinion on. But if it went into limp mode due to overheating after three laps on a track I have to wonder what speeds they were running. Certainly nothing that they'd be doing around town.

A little birdie of the blue variety that works down there, informed me that the Mustang was not upgraded.

Remember all the grief they had with the XR8's, as soon as they upgraded the alternator no isssues.

I wouldnt worry too much about the story. These cars are being flogged around race tracks and down the 1/4 in the US, and as yest I have not read any complaints in these forums from owners.

I've had no issues so far.

Auto changes smoothly enough and yesterday I put it into Sports mode and kicked down.

What a rush! Flew forwards and sounded great!

Hilarious. The auto is a highly proven transmission used in probably well over a million cars at this point. But only now it sucks.

Something isn't passing the sniff test.
