Exactly ZaneWayne, you are one of the few members who drive a different brand that doesn't get his panties in a wad and ends up getting banned from the site. If we all drove 6Gen Camaros......:headbonk::cheers:

Zero! Nada!! Zilch!!! In all honesty it's more informative than entertaining...hell I learn more about Mustangs/Camaros/Corvettes/Bimmers by simply being a member of this forum :clap2:
Dude this is so true. Probably the main reason I am a member on many.

This! I had a pissed off parent of one of my basketball girls key the whole side of my car a couple weeks ago. I didn't lose my shit over that, and I am not going to over some skewed facts on the internet haha.

Ahh man now that's grounds to go medieval! A couple years ago I coached the freshmen football team at the school I work at. Had a parent get in my face and threaten to inflict bodily harm on me for not playing his kid...some parents in America are the reason this current generation is the way it is - but back to Mustang vs Camaro.

Ahh the joys of gear-heads arguing over weight savings, performance options, which drivetrain is far superior...in my Rodney King voice "can't we all just get along?!"
We are actually very lucky to be alive and driving cars like this in this era. It is the 60's all over again:love::love::love:

Enjoy it while you can. I'm quite positive that within 10 years this will all be gone.

You are right Todd, I was born in '62 so I have vivid memories of my uncles driving and street racing small-block Chevys. I was practically raised at the dragstrip, so for me this is the late '60s early '70s all over again!!! And as you can see I converted to the :ford: side. LOL

You do twist the facts. Sorry lol.The 2SS with every single option is still not 3,800. The 2SS manual is barely over 3,700, something like 3,705. The car has a much stiffer platform than the 5th gen, and every model needs stiffer bracing for convertibles. The Camaro just didn't include to the convertible bracing on the coupe.....ya know.... because its the couple lol. I will not argue the pricing. It is high, I wish they would have went the Ford route and made the SS start about 34k and then add the other stuff. But once you add the stuff to the Mustang that the Camaro already has, they are within a $1,500 gap.
To be honest, it's not much different than the 5th Gen. Smaller and less in many areas but it's still very much a traditional Unibody on a Full-Size platform.

Removing that support from the car was a bad idea and for almost nothing. In reality, it's a 3700-3800lbs car... nothing groundbreaking.

Now, not only will the MSRP go up, so will the weight. It's a 3800lbs vehicle on a 110 inch wheelbase and 62 inch track.

By far the worse "performance" vehicle of the pack making very little effort in many places. To me, it wasn't worth removing valuable equipment for a 3700lbs curb weight...

...people are not buying them because they are ugly... that's not going to change. I am very please that potential buyers looked at the vehicle and seen what thePill did...

...nothing...

It wasn't too bad of an idea to keep the bracing of the convertible out of the coupe, sucks for the convertible guys though. Isn't the 6th gen SS convertible now 7500 instead of 5000 more?

I'm not real sure Khell, thePill talked briefly about that possibility. The convertible would be more stand alone and the reinforcement needed would only be applied to that vehicle. In other words, the MSRP and weight gap between the stripped SS and base Vert would be greater than last gen. The issue now is HALO models that could have made use of that support. The only reason the GT350 maintained weight after all the upgrades, no additional reinforcement was needed (yet).

The Camaro will be subject to intense future band-aiding, like the S197 and 5th Gen before it. The 6th Gen Camaro was a step sideways...

That sidestep could be catastrophic.

Another thing to consider. What if few people don't pick up an Ecoduke and Convertible? The car won't last 24 months from today...

Sorry, but in what respect?

Straight line speed?
Track capabilities?
Tech Options?
MPG?

You can say it's ugly because some people are going to have that opinion. And that's totally cool.

Yeah it does suck for them. But for me, I don't want the extra weight for convertible bracing in my coupe. Also the built in tonneau cover is very attractive in the Camaro Vert.
