I did my own due diligence at home with any modifications. You can debate among yourselves whether you think Ford 'can tell' or not. Not my concern as I have my own opinion on that issue. And nothing should cause the the entire rotating mass of the clutch/flywheel assembly to feels like its out of balance and fly out the side of the car. This is not some bunt up clutch from hard launches. If you think this is all caused by the (somewhat innocuous by Mustang standards) 275 rwhp the car was probably running at and not quality control or fault-of-design related, pour another one on me.

I am assuming...
You do that. No one would ever buy a tune to simply enhance drive-ability or fuel economy right?

As a final edit, might I also add that this car is pre-owned with 3000 miles when bought. I own a Toyota with 145xxx original, one owner miles on the stock clutch and transmission. It isn't me.

you definitely know what you are doing. I thought the stock clutch might slip under the higher torque, but doesn't sound like it.
Bro, the stock clutch had me fooled into thinking that I could upgrade to a ACT HD that claimed to be rated at 40% more than stock. I broke it in and took it to the dyno. Damn thing slipped on the first pull  RXT now!!!

might be the flywheel. I read EB uses dual mass flywheel, and those can built to match the engine. So if you add another 10% more power, then who knows. Be interesting to see if it is the flywheel. If it is, I cannot imagine why Ford didn't use the same MT82, clutch and flywheel in all the Mustangs.

$500 for would buy a lot of fuel. Can't comment on drive-ability.

in this case who knows

if they can tell, then you would expect to see the relatively new used Mustangs (with warranty!) on dealership lots, saying whether they do or don't. Anyone trade a relatively new Mustang and had the dealership check for that.

In any case Ford might fix it under warranty. Is it going back to a dealership you bought it from ? If it is the flywheel, I think that should be covered. Clutch can be a gray area.

I think this thread got extra attention due to a recent thread where a guy was hot-rodding, and had had previous transmission failures fixed under warranty. Then his clutch failed and they denied warranty and he got really upset.

Yes the car is going 'home' to the dealer that CPO'ed it.

What can they 'tell' exactly. What does it say? Care to enlighten me with specifics? Flash counts, key cycles, tramp stamps above the ass? It sounds like the same stuff we all hear. Yes I'm sure you're positive because you're a Ford tech, or know a tech, saw a tech do it, spoke to someone who knew a tech or someone who worked for Ford or whatever. Thanks but I'll assume that responsibility should the time ever come. Anyways, this isn't a windowed block or blown turbo we're talking about. This is a transmission with a long list of documented issues. There are 5 or 6 tranny threads on the very first page of this section alone.

It sure would buy a ton of 87. Quality 93 not so much.
what's the advertised fuel savings for running a tune? Seems like it would take a long time to break even.

in my case, there isn't any fuel savings to be had with a tune, because my right foot is a little heavy. But i would like to be able to load a tune that limits RPM when I drop my car off for service. Ford needs to build that feature into MyKey.

I'd say its good odds they warranty something that isn't clutch, and even if it is clutch, they might still warranty that. Considering you bought it from them used. If they do complain about a tune, then they should be able to produce documentation that shows the car had never had a tune when you bought it. And I doubt they can do that.

Well unfortunately I've got an appointment on Monday to get my driveline looked at. Last week I was leaving slow from a stoplight in 2nd gear (3:55 gears) and the entire driveline began shaking and shuddering the car. The car is barely drive able unless totally limped around. The vibration varies with the RPM and is much more noticeable with the car in gear. No CELs or anything either. Car is an Ecoboost and has 9000 miles and no driveline or suspension mods to speak of. We will see if I get to chock this up to another Chinese MT82 flub. Just wanted to document it, I'll update when I know more.
What leads you to believe it has anything to do with the transmission? Could be any number of things.

Edit: Ah....read through the thread....another young hot rodder looking for a warranty repair.

The forums really need a PSA: You mod car, you pay if it breaks.

Spitting out the usual "but, but Magnusson moss act says they can't!!"

Truth is: They can, and they will. Guess who has to do all the legwork to prove it wasn't ___ mod that caused the failure? You. That's fun times, said nobody ever.

Never claimed I was FORD tech but I'm a tech at truck dealership even we can see when owner mess's with it. There have been Ford techs in here and I have family who do work at Ford dealership they have all said you can't hide the fact it was tuned. THIS has been beaten bush a lot. You think changing your signature hides that fact it was tuned? Can't hide the posts that you said it was tuned which by the way are there forever.

What has been documented only by people on internet forums. Most of came down too owners that was the problem. You don't know it trans issue you're just assuming it is.

BUT again like it was been said another hotrodder trying to pull fast one

You can't afford me. :)

I would never pontificate....have you ever been to the Vatican? Not a very fun place.

Mod your car and you run the risk of any warranty coverage being a hassle or denied. I like how you're quick to blame the trans when you have no raving idea of what the issue is. If it is the trans or some other drive train component and Ford detects your tune (they will), prepare to man up and pay for the repair. Welcome to the world of hotrodding. If you can't (or won't) afford to pay for things you break, then rodding a new car when you're relying on warranty coverage may not be for you.

Now give me a couple of Our Fathers and run along. ;)

Best,
