So after 6 months of waiting my dealer finally got my VIN# and Build week. My dad is going to get a rental car so I can learn, or I was thinking of calling the track near me and maybe they have lessons I can take.

How long after the build week will I possible recieve my car, I hear 2-4 weeks?

Also what can I do with the VIN#, I hear you can go somewhere to get the sticker and see the progress of your car?

Thanks Guys :)

I bought a Shelby GT500 with 500hp in 2008. I had never driven a manual before and I haven't driven an auto since.

That is one thing (one of many really) Ford did right with this car, only offering a manual with it.

Wait...your FIRST stick car is going to be a 526hp "race" car. Lol. Let me guess, you're 16 too. Good luck and take it easy at first. You'll never look back. Long live the manual trans.

Old trucks can be solid to learn on. The 89 f250 I learned on you have to be real smooth for the granny 1st, and learn to slip it correctly for starting in 2nd. Also before sold it you needed to double clutch downshift when cold. Lots of skills not required by modern cars with modern gear boxes and engines. Hondas for example can be bad as the clutch is a light switch with little ability to learn slipping it.

beater hondas are great to learn on, soft clutch, damn near impossible to stall.
And they will take abuse.
I learned when I was 8 on farm tractor, many, many moons ago :)

I'm 26, graduated college in civil engineering, and wanted to treat myself.

I learned on an early 90's Toyota pickup back in the day. You could practically let the clutch out without any gas and it wouldn't stall.

No worries, this car is a very easy manual to drive. Very gentle around town, soft clutch, easy peddle and nice to shift if you keep your right foot under control. That will be your biggest problem . . . holding back the urge to mash the gas and keep it there!

Yep I agree very easy to drive. Just gotta be careful because she can get sideways easily.

I was playing around yesterday and smacked 1st around 4k roasted the tires while staying in it then hit 2nd hard and got her completely sideways. It was fun. :ford:

Stuff like Focus, Sonics, Aveo, Fiesta...all really nice cars to learn to drive a standard on.

Keep in mind...you'll only be learning the basics. You'll have to relearn everything with the 350.

lol. I know the feeling of wanting a reward for all the hard work of school. After I graduated with my degree, I got the privilege of working 2 jobs and driving a '72 240Z(no it wasn't new) for a few years. My first new vehicle was a '86 Toyota turbo truck $12,500.

No offense...really, but as cool as this car is, it's a depreciating investment. House>car has always been my mantra. Maybe you've already got that sorted. Seriously, I'm not ripping you.

Congrats on the replacement clutch... ;-P

Oh, I learned how to drive a stick on one of these. Crash box...haha.
