That is terrible. They can't be coming from the factory like that. Maybe it's a combination of thin paint and crap delivery processes that they are being damaged

Well my bliss with going with that detailer was short lived, I couldn't wait what was required so I have decided to go with someone else. I'm getting the a three stage correction, rims done and two layers of opticoat for essentially the same price.

Under the harsh bright lights my paint didn't look amazing, I had wet sanding marks which looks like a tennis ball has been etched into the paint and I also had multiple scratches across the bumper and a botched patch on my passenger door. The detailer said that mine is the 4th mustang he had seen and in the best condition, he is aware of 13 resprays already due to paintwork issues
Where did you get it done from????

Got OptiCoat done at Definitive Car Detailing at Lane Cove.
Went there because Frank uses a spray gun to apply and it's done indoors.
So far happy with results, but I guess time will tell.

Never had paint protection on any car in the past, but all this talk of thin paint and so on has me a bit concerned, damn these forums, ignorance was bliss:) So can someone more experienced with this educate me. Mine is a daily drive, and I have already had it a few weeks does that make a big difference or do you need to get it done straight away? I am probably still a few weeks away from doing the DRLs and that will require removing the front bar, so I will have to wait until after that is done.

What is paint correction, is that polishing out any existing marks or is there more to it?

How sensitive is this stuff to washing? While I never take any car through one of those whipper snipper type car washes, I will be getting it washed at the local hand wash place and they use a pressure washer. Will this wear it away? I would love to wash it by hand every weekend, which I will do for the first few months, but time doesn't really allow me this pleasure normally. Opticoat from definitive in Lane Cove seems to be getting a good wrap, so that may be the way to go I am thinking, unless there is also a good place someone can recommend out towards Penrith / Hawkesbury area.

Noting that everyone is talking about Paint Treatments. Has anyone or is anyone looking at or had rust treatment done on their Mustang?

Go to the guy in Lane Cove man. You won't regret it

1 car per day and he gives you a loaner.

I'm in the same boat John. You learn things you need to know here, and learn things you wish you don't need to know.

I'm on the Gold Coast. Any recommendations similarly appreciated for when the time comes ...

I can only relate my experience with my R-Spec - it's the Black with Red stripes.

I had it Opticoated at Reflect Effect in North Parramatta - Dave's the guy there. I had it done about 6 weeks after having the car.

I noticed there were swirl marks when I first washed the car after taking delivery from the dealer; I wasn't really knowledgeable about coatings but my son put me on to Dave.

He told me Ford paint was a bit thin but it was also soft and responded well to correction and treatment.

Despite the swirl marks he only had to do minor corrections and polishing before applying the Opticoat.

Car was there most of the day but the results were fantastic and the difference in the look and "depth" of the black was noticeable. I had some photos at the time but they were on Imageshack; I'll see if I can find them. I have had the car more than 3 years and the paintwork still looks great.

The car's not used as a daily driver though and I only wash her every 2 to 3 months but I'm very happy with the paintwork after I wash her and give her a going over with Duragloss Aqua Wax.

I've seen some cars done with Ceramic Pro - this seems to be a thicker coating than Opticoat - Langdon from Driven Colour has done a couple of cars for Hammo's customers. I had a slightly cheaper quote from Driven Colour for the R-Spec but I went with Opticoat because my son had arranged it. Langdon gave Dave a good rap which I thought was professional and because of that I decided I would go Ceramic Pro.

In reality, there are probably quite a few good operators out there and I don't think you'd go too far wrong using one of most of those mentioned by our Forum brothers.

I don't have the photos of when the Opticoat was first done but these shots are from about 1 year after:

I am going with Body Armour 9H. Like many others it comes down to what you think is the best for your car and also who applies it.

I like the reviews that I have read about this and have my car booked in to be treated next week.

My car was given the full treated today by Frank from Bright shine Detailing.

He did a great job which included the Body Armour 9H paint protection applied to the the whole car including the windows and wheels.

I would recommend anyone who is thinking about getting paint protection in Sydney to consider him.
He spent almost the whole day washing, buffering, polishing and then applying the Body Armour protection which is permanent.

Here are some picture of the car after he had finished her:

You would be better spending that money on a private detailer in your area, unless it is free of course
