Issue is, most good 'crooks' can disable a tracker, so this is somewhat 'pointless'. Just gives your mrs a way to see where you've been
The trackers we use, you dont even know are there until the blue lights come on behind them. Of course its not perfect but we have traced two vans, one was stolen and another was an employee doing what he shouldnt in it!
You should have seen his face when I pulled up alongside him!

twiggy No need to worry, we're just hypothetically talking about the extreme's of certain things, there's all manner of ways to reduce the risk, but as someone said, there's a reason we have insurance, if someone is desperate enough to steal a 30-40k car, (or even more) they will do it, doesn't matter what security you have on said car, they will get it, even if you had a Lambo, Ferarri, or going up higher to the likes of your hyper cars, if someone wants to steal it, they will find a way to steal it.

We can only minimise the risk or improve the security on said car to reduce the hassle surrounding insurance/police etc.

The likelihood anyone is going to steal a 30-40k car is quite slim for one, most organised robberies of cars are 'Cars targeted' aka, it's a fully premeditated robery and someone has paid off a 'gang/crooks etc' to steal said car for them because they want it. Or crooks are stealing it to sell on second markets etc.

Think most of us Mustang fanatics have bought our cars, and aren't sitting here going 'ill pay off some crooks to steal twiggys GT' etc.

If you're worried about it being stolen, spray the whole car chrome pink, draw a gigantic c0ck on it and I think that's a sufficient warrant to stop people wanting to steal it

*Hint, that's my wrap idea, don't steal the pink c0ckstang from me :(

*Hint hint, it isn't.

Bad crooks then ;). On a more serious note - if said trackers are available, can you PM me the details of where you got them from, where they're hidden etc as i've been looking to put one on mine... Thatcham category 1 or not, whacking my own security on my stuff

Think you're right, this subject only came up because a friend mentioned it, then you start checking Youtube and other forums and it makes things sound really bad out there and it just makes you worry even more.

Yeah, people will worry, it's in our nature.

As for me worrying, nope, I'd just rather the increased security than having to knife a crook and deal with the legal proceedings following that (See previous posts )

Hi there

I made the following pre-cautions:

- Fit loud exhaust and customise car a little so it is easily identified as mine.
- Fit steering lock, Pro Lock thatcham approved, can be removed in 55s but they'd make a lot of noise doing so.
- Place keys in a fob guard which are then stored in a metal tin, preventing thieves from using wifi extenders.

The above is simple and makes my car a lot harder to steal than the guy down the road for example as they will need to break into the house via either going through to sets of security doors or through a window.

I've done everything possible to prevent the 60s Focus RS type thief who walks up to car, extends key fob wifi with an extender to just open the door and then codes a new key via OBD port.

All I would like to do now is either remove the visible OBD port or disable it via a kill switch some how, the result would be to steal my car they either have to break into the house and locate the keys or they need to break the cars window, then find the OBD port and cut through the steering lock. So the walk up and drive away thief simply won't bother, too much hassle.

So In short, a wrap and the fact my car isn't 30 metres from my door anyway (big drive), and then my keys not being on that side of the house (a big house as well), couples with security systems, gates, etc probably makes it an issue... Oh, and the wrap making the car one off, the loud exhaust (Hoping) that'll wake me up (My room faces the drive - closest to it).

We're all quite lucky that
1) Mustangs are super rare, so you can imagine someone taking a picture of it should it go past, and
2) if it's been modified like Steve's, Randys, and mine will be (at least visual mods this is, that are spottable by the naked eye, not slammed cars and spacers etc) will be incredibly harder to steal as they're more unique...
3) I live in such a secure estate that i'd be shocked if someone stole my car, at least if they did, they'd look at the other cars of higher RRP value and go for them instead :thumbsup:

I dont need to PM you. There are a few available. Our vans have Ctrack.
http://www.ctrack.co.uk/tracking-solutions/vehicle-tracking/online-vehicle-tracking.html

That's an example btw, not a recommendation).

The vans have much more complicated stuff including a driver id key that immobilises the vehicle, I can do excessive braking reports, speeding reports and all sorts of stuff.

With the Mustang, I just want the tracker that will be well hidden.

None of it worries me too much really. Its what we have insurance for. I just want to be able to ring the Police, tell them the car has been stolen and where it is. Its so cool to do that.

Gibbo n manders you are assuming that they will be stolen from home more likely away from home, steering lock n obd port removed / hidden / disabled &
fit a Corsa xtreme will slow them down & if they get it started it will attract so much attention they will leave it :clap2:

No ones ever gonna steal Manders car in his castle
True that.... In the process of building the moat as we speak. Draw bridge access works only by retina

As for away from home, well, that I could understand! Looks like i'll carry a wheel clamp around with me and fit that when I park up! Hacksawing a metal wheel lock is going to attract attention!

Well, regardless, my car will still be incredibly visible and stick out like a sore thumb, so it's hard to miss should it dissappear, should be easy to pick up and track on traffic cams etc, and who knows, the more outlandish the car looks, maybe the police can actually do something proactive for once and stop the crooks before they do anymore damage by having car's as bait... but that involves them doing some work :clap2:

Bearing in mind i got jumped in a car park 2 years ago by two police officers who thought i was a drug dealer, i'm not too pleased with the police after that fiasco.

(long story cut short, a junky ratted and said he bought dope from a guy driving a 'silver car' my car matched that description they waited for me and jumped me, blocked my car in and pinned me against my car)
