Yeah... let's see what a Tech pk brings at Manheim. Someone keep it monitored and post results.

I wonder what the history is for it to be at auction already? Accident or Water Damage? Any trade in would definitely still sit on a dealer lot I would think.

No negatives reported or revealed.... although note that it's a very early delivery for a MY2016.

Not sure what's interesting about a dealer wholesale auction.

Never trust a Carfax. My 05 GT was involved in two significant accidents and has a clean Carfax. They're only as good as what is actually reported.

Car is listed as a "test vehicle" and has 8243 miles. Manheim inspected it and rated its condition as 4.9/5. It's part of a Ford factory Sale which I believe if for Ford dealers only.

Not sure what's interesting about a dealer wholesale auction. It's clearly a car with some bad story, otherwise it wouldn't be at a wholesale auction alongside beat up old toyotas and roached out buicks. If it sells for, say, $40k what does that tell you? Nothing really I think?
Unless you have some specific particulars on this car why would you suggest that this car has a bad story such as water damage etc.?

I could be wrong but I would suggest that this is a preproduction GT350 that has gone to auction and that the original title owner is the Ford Motor Company.

If that is the case this could be a "Pilot Production" car which could be either a static display vehicle, press vehicle or even possibly one of the GT350 North American Track Tour static display cars. If it is one of the North American Track Tour vehicles it will have some real tough miles on it but I am pretty sure it is not as I believe only Track Pack and R model cars made it onto the track.

As far as the Carfax report goes they will only supply what has been reported. The only report that really means something will be the Manheim Report out of Carleton, Michigan and I assume that this car is being sold at auction in Michigan?

The VIN on this car suggests that it may be a preproduction 2016 GT350 and the best way to confirm that is for someone to determine the chassis build number which will tell us a number of things.

Lastly, the build date on this car would be interesting to determine and that can be done very easily by just checking the door jamb decal which will provide the actual production date for this vehicle.

Then again, as you suggested this car may be just be a bad story with a lot of baggage but I suggest not.

BTW, the two R models that I drove in Sebring had VIN's ending in 139 and 141 which is very close to this car so suggest it is a PP car of some sort and not a damaged car as some have suggested.

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Not sure of any details, looks like 8243 miles, but its in the Ford lanes with program vehicles and such. I should have looked it over and fired it up but I was in a hurry picking up cars. This auction is about 8 miles from the Flat Rock plant too. I'll proby be there again this week and will check on it.

Edit: Dr Chill beat me to it, I'm a slow typer

I have no particulars, just the fact that normally wholesale auction cars aren't all that great, or they'd be sold through a different channel. Maybe this one's a peach though.

You don’t want to know
This car was built 8/13/15. It appears that everything else PP0001 said above is correct. I don't think there's anything suspicious going on here - just Ford selling a car it no longer needs to a Ford dealer through its dealer-only auction.

You're 100% correct in not trusting CarFax OR AutoCheck.

CF and AC will only have damage info if it was reported to their agencies via Insurance regulations and/or State DMV regulations. There is no standard for reporting vehicle damages to any "VIN reporting" agency.

NEVER trust either reporting agency - ALWAYS inspect and check over any used vehicle yourself. Know the vehicle you are buying as far as structural, exterior body and interior this way you can pick up on any previous damages or major repairs.
