I dyno'd mine today. Since I didn't have a baseline run, I think I gained about 45hp/25lbs-ft.

All those after market coolant tanks look so much better than the stock tanks. The stock tank looks like a storage unit for the drivers Kool-Aid.

Quick question for someone thinking about doing this mod, what's the install process on this?

To the OP, I have the JLT and the only CON to it is that its hard to thread the cap either on or off. I was told this is the reason they discontinued it, but I am not sure if that's the exact reason. I like the way it looks, but I may swap out to the Mishimoto due to the cleaner look and the tube on the side. I like being able to see my coolant.

SHould you decide to sell send me a pm Ill take it !

The oem Coolant tank is ugly AF.

Very well made.....
Looks like Mishimoto is the way to go here. Great looking tank too!

My vote; my choice.

Thanks guys!

Mishimoto tank ordered!

Ordered my Mishimoto BLACK anodized one for $160 shipped. Should be here 2/03
Thanks for picking up our tank guys!

IMO the moroso has nicer welds then the mishimoto. Where are the Mishimoto tanks made? The company's name sounds to import to me. Not judging just saying.
I believe R&D is in house but manufacturing is elsewhere. Like many products out there.
This tank was indeed designed in our R&D facility here in DE. Our components are manufactured in a variety of locations, which typically differs based on the component in question. For example, our oil cooler brackets are manufactured in Texas. We manufacture many of our catch can brackets in our DE facility. Some of our components are manufactured in China, this tank included, under strict control of the talented staff in our Shanghai office. We’ve found that product quality comes down to the design of the component and the quality control processes in place. This definitely shows in the end product we are able to produce.

Thanks!

I've had hands on with both Mishimoto tanks (black and polished) and I like the shape and design of it, but I would personally lean towards black. The polished one, to me and in my own non-relevant opinion, looks "cheap."

Now let me explain, it is absolutely built well, the welds are nice, the design is great. All of the connections are perfect. I just don't like the look of large expanses of flat polished surfaces. I would definitely go with black.

Please don't hurt me Mishimoto, I do like your products!

Thanks for chiming in LHouse. You are absolutely welcome to an opinion regarding the finish. I personally also prefer the black tank. It is a bit more subtle and portrays what the factory tank should have looked like.

Do any more "Sponsors" have the black Mishimoto in stalk?
It looks like we have these tanks in stock in our warehouse. I imagine several of our vendors will have these ready to ship. Let me know if you run into any issues locating a tank!

I think Shelby America has the nicer tank, but I like the Mishi external coolant tube for quick check of coolant level. The external tube gives me ideas about how I would modify the Shelby tank.
Thanks Hi-Po. The external sight tube is definitely a neat feature. We do use dipsticks on a few of our other expansion tanks. Both methods seem to be pretty effective for verifying coolant level.

Tank arrived and looks nice, but the little dent on the top left is a little disappointing
Sorry the tank arrived in this condition Brad. Very strange location for damage. One would assume the ding would be protruding in the opposite direction. Have you contacted our customer service department in regards to acquiring a replacement? If not, shoot us a PM and we will put you in touch with our team.

What's the point to swapping out coolant tanks other than people don't like the way the OEM one looks? Is there a performance benefit ??
No real benefit to note. I just got the black Mishi tank and it looks great and it's baffled like the OEM football.
Thanks Rob. Great to hear you like the tank!

I'm gonna dyno my tank when I get it tomorrow!
Haha. Definitely interested in the results.

BEFORE

AFTER

Pending dyno results but I can say the butt dyno has this mod pushing my motor over 1,000 rwhp easy!!!

Looks great! Thanks for posting up these shots!

Watch the install video from the link below. They actually make it an easier process than Mishimotos own video.

Thanks for posting up this guide DB! Our guide is linked below.

The process is relatively simple. Most folks should have no issue knocking it out in less than an hour.

Let me know if I can answer any specific questions about the process/

Thanks

John,

Is the stock cap suppose to "click" on the Mishimoto Expansion Tank like it does on the stock tank? Thanks

Some minor stuff:
- Internal Baffles Prevents Coolant from Splashing During Aggressive Driving
- Prevents Air Entry Into Coolant System

FWIW.

John @ Mishimoto.. Do you have a coolant cap for the expansion tank? I have the Black one and love it BTW.
