Ran a tire size calculator, and here are the specs. The spare in the Mustang is slightly lower diameter (the PP, 50th and 18" wheels are very close in terms of overall diameter). Not sure if a wider diameter would fit in the well, but the current spare is a pretty tight fit from what I remember.

What's the spare tire for a non pp gt? The pp Eco and non pp gt share the same calipers.

The spare tire is exactly the same for all, no difference.

On further inspection, there is a little bit of room on all sides in the well. You may be able to fit a full diameter tire in there, but it would be very tight. And it certainly will stick up above the well and into the normal trunk area.

My Eco pp rims fit in the trunk with a few inches sticking up. An idea is the level the entire trunk? Place a peice of wood or plastic to have the entire trunk sit flush with a full size? You do lose trunk space but might look more appealing.

But yes always put spare on non-driven axle. If you have GT PP, which the spare wont fit front Brambo brakes, Ford said it's okay to have it on the back.
There is a spare tire kit that you can buy. It's around $200. Comes with a smaller tire and a jack. The problem with it is that is a smaller diameter and would chew up the clutch packs in a limited slip rear differential. Which means if you get a rear flat, you should move one of your fronts to the rear and put the spare on the front axle.
I have a PP GT and have become more worried about having a spare due to not wanting to get stuck in winter conditions waiting for a tow with how terrible Michigan roads are. Currently I am running a square 19x9 boss replica wheel setup with winter tires. What I am thinking of doing until I order a full size spare (maybe) is to just throw one of my stock front wheels in my trunk with a jack and if I get a flat or blowout I can swap one of my squared winter wheels to the back so they match in the rear (if need be) and then use the summer setup as my "spare" just so I can get to a repair place. I have been petrified of doing this because I don't want to mess up my rear diff. Does my plan sound like it would be okay and not harm anything?

Well, Ford already says the smaller tire in the back will not damage the rear Torsen diff on the GT PP which is different from the clutch type ones you see on the non-PPs.

Okay cool...wasn't sure as I feel like I've seen several times that it could still mess up the torsen.

In case you want a official answer.
The torsen does not "lock up" when it sees different speeds. It transfers instead of slips unlike a clutch type LSD. Although, I would not drive aggressively when the tires are different sizes, because more torque = more transfer. Spares are meant to be driven no faster than 50mph for short duration so you can get the damaged tire fixed.

The donut from Ford is not as wide, maybe 5 or 6inches. The pictures I saw made it look almost full size in width. I am afraid it is not. I have it and it is a little more substantial than other donuts, but not as wide as it looks in the pictures.

There was a thread awhile back about a donut that fit a PP GT..it came stock on an acura or beemer etc..but difficult to locate used. Cleared the front brembos I think. Could have been a thread on a different mustang site though

I think I posted that link in one of the threads already linked in this one. Problem was finding one of those wheels. And yes, I originally copied the text/link from another forum. Good memory! :)
