Seems earlier then before. Maybe they are trying to get the new models on lots during the warmer months. Releasing a sports car in October is kinda silly.
I ordered my 2012 Mustang in February of 2011, then received it in May.

Keep in mind what followed the "very short" 2012 MY...

The 2013 refresh.
and that refresh is what make me like the mustang enough for the first time to stop driving my GM cars and make the jump to Fords.

now I've abandoned GM entirely. Thank you, Ford. :ford:

I thought about waiting. Kinda wish I had but at the same time I am really enjoying my 16.

Bet the 2017 has 450HP and possibly the ten speed automatic, Just a thought!
Wonder what they're going to do for those of us who prefer to shift our own...the biggest stick I've even seen in a non-commercial vehicle is a 7 speed manual in a very late production Dodge Dakota.

Some 18 wheelers have a 10 speed-and that's considered basic in a big rig

Thought about waiting, but I doubt the dealers will give as good of pricing on a special order for a '17 as they would now for a '16.

One dealer claimed they can not order any more '16s while the other two I am working with can place an order just fine...

Hey TopNotch, thanks for posting the MY2017 dates. I decided to wait on ordering a 2017 instead of a 2016.

RIP DIB. I love that color! Hopefully I'll love Lightning Blue as much!

Son of a bitch. I was hoping I had until at least May or June to order my '16 Mustang. Especially since they're doing away with the color I wanted, Deep Impact Blue. So much sad.... :(

I talked to Mike G today at Ford Performance today and I asked him about the June 3 date for 2017 model and he said that they wouldn't be building 2017's that early. Hopefully he is wrong or he knows something we don't.

Were you and/or Mike G referring to GT350s though? I'd expect them to come down the line a little later than the non-Ford Performance cars.

That being said, the document that Top Notch posted did qualify "dates are subject to change"

:)

I ordered my 2016 last week just one day before the new colors were introduced. I haven't heard much at all, rumors or otherwise, that the 2017 model year is going to be much different other than some of the color changes. If I had heard something somewhat feasible regarding power increases or driveline changes I might have waited.

After agonizing over color choice I ended up choosing DIB. The next day Lightning Blue became available for the 2017 which I think I would like better . I decided to stick with my current order however because I don't want to wait until mid to late summer before getting my car. That and I don't believe I would be able to negotiate the good deal I got on a 2016 vs. the 2017.

I saw a white gt with manufacturer plate in the detroit area. Very possible that it's a 2017 model in testing. What was really interesting is that the car had quad exhaust.

Each dealer has a differing amount of allocation each month for each Ford model. Some dealers may not have received and/or asked for more '16 Mustang allocation for this month's allocation, but they still have a chance to get more allocation next month before '16 ordering is over.

Also, as the year winds down, Ford will "balance out" (run out) of some paints and options, so don't wait until the last minute to get your order in so you can get everything you want on it.
