ahhh ok I see now. Yeh I thought the K brace was underside the chassis as stability. OK need to rethink the stock sway bar now!!

An yeh the performance pack is standard for us here, thats why we get the 3.55 axle/brembo brakes/19-19.5 wheels... and a few other things i think ...on the GT

I think you should mod the car to what your needs are, my build is to upgrade the parts which most people complain about and also create a solid baseline for extra power later in the cars life.

I think there appears to be a lot of confusion between the "K frame Brace" and the "Strut tower brace"

I may be wrong her but..

K frame Brace - is located under the car - it connects the bottom of the suspension to the firewall - it is included in the EU & AU RHD cars as standard.

Strut Tower Brace - is located at the top of the engine bay. it connects the top of the strut towers (spans across the engine bay) and also has a brace back to the firewall. - Does not appear to be included as standard on EU & AU RHD cars (still to be confirmed)

The strut tower brace connects the two strut towers.

There is no K brace under the car.

Our models only miss out on the strut brace.

I don't want to be a party pooper here, but I think the fitting of the strut tower brace contravenes the ADR's as it will effect the pedestrian protection system. The system works by raising the bonnet at the rear (pyrotechnic) and supposedly stopping the pedestrian from being knackered from hard objects under the bonnet, ie: top of the engine. Unfortunately the strut tower brace is a hard object and sits somewhat higher than the top of the engine causing the pedestrian to be injured.
On second thoughts I would imagine the secondary part of the brace that goes back to the firewall would have to be ok.

PS. On reading Azairous's reply below, it looks like I am wrong again. You wouldn't think I was in the car game for 30 years.

if you read the ADR's they are very vague in terms of active impact protection systems, the hood we are getting with the explosive bolts are actually a moot point for us in aus as we rely on rolling weight, in eu they rely on bouncing weight for safety regs (why they need the motor-hood clearance), in aus we are allowed to change the hood, hinges, anything so long as a 180mm ball rolled up the hood does not hit the scoop/wipers/anything standing out above the horizontal plane half way up. EU has screwed us over with the hood. but thats life.

anybody up for importing some hoods?

the brake lights on the other hand we are stuck with no sequential if you want to adhere to ADR's, but who really will stick to that completely?

Me. Changing the hood after fitting everything else. But it's low on the priority list. Tyres and lights (DRL) come first

i have still to read the section on the DRL's but i'm not too sure if we are allowed them due to adding LED's to where the was no LED's before.

as i said, who's going to care.

my first mods are making the care as close to US spec as possible. cause lets face it that is the car we all fell in love with.

sorry - but the K brace is under the car - if you Google it you will see plenty of pictures about it - even on this forum.

yes the strut tower brace has two parts to it - 1 spans the towers - the other part braces it to the firewall.
