yeah, i really wish we had the 3.55 rear ends
Are you sure that'll eliminate most need for 3rd gear? IIRC, the hot tip with the MT-82 in the later-year S197s was 3.31 axle gears.

I guess I was curious about street tires, not F Stock on Hoosiers.

Edit: 3.55s were option IIRC during those years before 3.73.

i was also on 3.31 in my '13 - but i didn't make it to nats in 2014 unfortunately (did win in crows and packwood, and *almost* beat coulson at the packwood pro, who went on to win AStock later that year - albeit in FStock), and then i got rear-ended and that's how i ended up where i am :)

that said, i felt i was on the right FD in my car.

not if you optioned the brembo pack (which we all did)
nm, i'm mis-remembering - you could option the 3.55 and 3.73 on the brembo - but there was no point, the 3.31 was perfect for gearing.

Ah.

Well this thread is unfortunately drifting farther and farther from being useful.
it would have been useful of the S550 also had these FD options - you'd all be on the 3.31 :)
... having the boss 7500 limiter would also have been useful!

It's in the factory service manual. Or you can search around for pics of that page. 2mm inboard on the upper bolt hole is what is allowed.

got it, that helps

So I'm assuming the front struts are removed for this?

I'm familiar with suspension swaps, did many on my Golf R. Haven't had much time to get the Mustang's wheels off yet, so a bit green on this car.

You don't have to remove the strut from the car (leaving the 3 upper nuts on). However that can make it more difficult depending on your technique. I did the first set on the car, the second set off. To get to it you need to remove the brake caliper and rotor (simple), but the two bolts that hold the hub to the strut are in there like no other I've ever dealt with before and talking to others that have done this mod seem to agree so be prepared when trying to just hammer those bolts out doesnt work like you'd expect. An air hammer spits it out in 2 seconds.
