  1. SCCA F-Street Setup. What's Everyone Done so Far?

Try not to dive bomb the corners. Brake earlier and a bit less hard so the front end can work on entry. It's far more important to be on that apex cone than it is braking later.
  2. SCCA F-Street Setup. What's Everyone Done so Far?

Looks better, nice job. You can cut a ton of time if you get right on those apex cones, it will make a huge difference.
  3. Proposed Solo Class STP(ony)

Looks awesome. Can't wait for your coilovers and get this party started.
  4. SCCA F-Street Setup. What's Everyone Done so Far?

No. You don't have the own the car because you know about the top level competition and trying to make things work. Not having either and telling people information or correcting others is what I find annoying. Sorry for the sidetrack.
  5. SCCA F-Street Setup. What's Everyone Done so Far?

Because none of us use the speedometer. It's inaccurate especially when we are changing tire sizes away from OE sizes. Then factor in the rev limiter's behavior, something we've been dealing with every event. No one cares if you are fast or not in a forum for the most part. What is valuable is...

I'm sure Norm can tell you all about how they would be if he had them and an S550.
  7. SCCA F-Street Setup. What's Everyone Done so Far?

Experience. Forum warriors like you make me not want to post anymore.
  8. SCCA F-Street Setup. What's Everyone Done so Far?

    60.6mph given rev limiter behavior.
  9. Proposed Solo Class STP(ony)

As you know a 285 on 11" is much more effective than 10". My guess is they decided that might make it close some the performance gap of a 315 pinched on an 11". I can't say for sure but that was how I saw it and would agree with that thinking.
  10. Proposed Solo Class STP(ony)

I don't know. Plus you have to remember the STAC advises, the SEB decides and they aren't always the same thing. I personally think a tire size difference was a good idea. It draws out the S197 owners to play. Then they can feed in tire allowances as race data dictates. It is far better and...
  11. Proposed Solo Class STP(ony)

This is the side of me that has spent years on advisory committees, so understand my POV: What new constructive feedback are you going to provide at this point? They had all the information you can give at this point for a few months. They determined this was the right starting point. Until...
  12. Proposed Solo Class STP(ony)

I think you are confused. The latest Fastrack is out with the details that show it is unchanged from the last proposal. While its a provisional class they can rule change on the fly, I dont think you'll see anything until October of next year.
  13. SCCA F-Street Setup. What's Everyone Done so Far?

You don't have to remove the strut from the car (leaving the 3 upper nuts on). However that can make it more difficult depending on your technique. I did the first set on the car, the second set off. To get to it you need to remove the brake caliper and rotor (simple), but the two bolts that...
  14. SCCA F-Street Setup. What's Everyone Done so Far?

Different application but exact same thing. 2mm allowance inboard: http://lh6.ggpht.com/_ryWlfgV6j-8/TDjybzjKK2I/AAAAAAAAJRA/_hlCxTk_2Is/s800/IMG_8336.JPG I did it on two sets of struts (originals and donor set I put Konis in). It's not hard just time consuming and getting the bolts out the...
  15. SCCA F-Street Setup. What's Everyone Done so Far?

It's in the factory service manual. Or you can search around for pics of that page. 2mm inboard on the upper bolt hole is what is allowed.
  16. SCCA F-Street Setup. What's Everyone Done so Far?

Ah. Well this thread is unfortunately drifting farther and farther from being useful.
  17. SCCA F-Street Setup. What's Everyone Done so Far?

I guess I was curious about street tires, not F Stock on Hoosiers. Edit: 3.55s were option IIRC during those years before 3.73.
  18. Novice impression - Took my GT-PP to the Auto-Cross Today

The OE tires feel ok (lower limits) at autox but on the clock they are really slow. My first event I had the rear bar and rear konis on the car felt fine but I was raw timed by a guy I normally beat by 1.2 seconds (both FS cars). Next event I put on tires and nothing else, raw timed him back and...
  19. SCCA F-Street Setup. What's Everyone Done so Far?

Who was running and doing well on 3.31s?
  20. Service Advancetrac during autocross

I get it here and there autoxing. I seem to least get it when I have the ebrake on and brake pedal depressed when disabling. Could be coincidence or a factor, I can't prove it one way or another. I've never noticed it pulling power when it comes on.
