I agree. I believe they save major updates for every five years, while they offer slight changes like colors, trim lines, and option bundles every couple of years.

It costs a lot to change body panels. There are design meetings, focus groups, capital investment and R&D to determine feasibility, impact to performance, etc. The only time anything is changed quickly is if a safety recall is made!

I think we'll see some slight, emphasis on SLIGHT changes for the 2017 MY in terms of body work.

At the end the S197 got two refreshes in its last 5 years, 2010 and 2013, with a new drivetrain in 2011.

I don't foresee many changes in 2016. But I do see maybe a slight refresh in 2017. The car is too new right now to get any changes in a year besides maybe minor ones.

My original target time frame for ordering the Mustang is, or was presently set for May - June. I just might wait it out a bit longer to see what's in store for the 2016 model,,,. :gossip:

Autocar seem to think the engine will get a serious horse power gain:

Zero citations in what looks like a minor blog post.

I think even 475hp would be lofty wishing. Let's just assume the Coyote goes DI along with other miscellaneous revisions and gains roughly 5-10% in peak output. Those are high hopes and would put it at roughly 455-480hp. That's a hell of a lot of power for a volume Mustang model.

I will be really, really pissed if Grabber Blue comes back for '16. And if it does, hopefully it'll stick around for a while. I had/have my heart set on this color.

Sounds like the EB is getting updates in 2016/2017 to match the Focus RS.

My predictions, and my predictions have a horrible track record, are:

No real changes in '16 aside from updates to Sync.

In '17 they will likely respond to the Camaro with more power, maybe 450HP/410 lb-ft torque. EB will continue to get bumps in power and refinement with the V6 eventually being dropped. '18 should see some changes to the bodywork, and maybe somewhere in '17 or '18 the GT500 will reappear with twin turbo Coyote under the hood.

Likely I am wrong on all counts, but what the heck, we're all guessing anyway.

I think, or at least hope, you are right.

Maybe some very small spec changes in '16MY (a few new colours, and maybe PP available with an auto)

'17MY - DI Coyote with 460hp/430lb ft & 10-speed auto

'18MY - Facelift (subtle sheet metal changes / tweaked head/tail lights).......with a GT500 to follow. I'd love that to be a Twin Turbo Coyote!)

Or, depending if sales remain strong, the updated engines/tranny may wait for the '18MY, too.

We need some solid rumors :gossip: :D

wow! if this is true, then i will wait until 16 to get a stang. I really want the PP on a Gt auto!
It is probably a given, as all cars delivered to Australia will have the PP fitted, and auto is an option. Granted we are not expecting them to arrive here until 4th quarter of 2015 - hence would be 2016 model in the US.

cheers,

Ken

Why do you think that? I think they purposefully spec'd both cars the way they are. The EB starts at $25k and the RS is probably going to be at least $35k.

If history serves then a refresh should come in for the 2019 model.

I don't see the V6 being dropped as well because of the base price.

They really should offer the V6 in Premium. There is no harm in doing this except alienating their customer base who prefer a NA engine to a turbo.
