My name has kind of a lame orgin story.

I used to have 1962 Glasspar boat with a Mercury Thunderbolt 500 outboard motor on it. I had just done a tune up on the little beast, and sat down at my ancient IBM PC. Sitting on the keyboard a disk for AoL... So I signed up, and it asked for a user name. I am not the most original guy. I looked around on my desk and bam, a bottle of Quicksilver 2 stroke oil. And thus was born the Qckslvr user name. No relation to Quicksilver surfing, but I did have a lot of their shirts and stuff.

On some forums I am Qckslvr240... the 240 came from my 72 Datsun 240 with a L28 head on a L24 block, Isky racing cam, triflow equal length headers, triple side draft Webers, Pertronix ignition, and a MSD6A. That was my V8 killer. Also wouldn't pass a gas station -_-

I grew up a Chicago Bears fan and used to have a fantasy football team called Midway Monsters (a variation of "Monsters of the Midway.") When I needed to choose a handle for an internet forum years ago, I combined Midway and J since my name is Jay. I've used the same name in different forums since then, including this one.

Was born in Indiana. For years more people knew me as xxxxxxx's dad. Plus I like homonyms.

Wow....so sorry for your loss. Yesterday was the one year anniversary of my son's best friend who died in a freak accident last year. He was 29. Praying for your daughter. God Bless. Sincerely, Bob2

George, you brought me to tears. I’m so sorry for your loss. But it’s still a beautiful story with a very sweet ending. I’m sure she is looking down and smiling every single day. Go Sox!!! ❤

Thank you both for the kind words.
Years ago my cousin passed away and his wife would find a penny every Sunday when leaving church. she said they were pennys from heaven. Must be true, when the wife and I talk about her we always find a penny soon after. We keep them in a jar.

The ID comes from the classics above, with hopes of some day owning a real 1968 428 CJ…. The original “R&H” as seen above, is from this region (now known only as Holman Ford).

I do have the 1:18 scale R&H replica, but it’s just not the same…. Surprisingly, the value on it has jumped too, but isn’t close to the real thing either…🤣

First name plus the car to the left. It's my first car and still parked in the garage about 33 years later.
love the Cougars....had a 71 with 351C and top loader 4 spd. Started out as a 2bbl and FMX auto. Was a hell of a lot more fun once I transformed to 4bbl, dual exhaust and top loader! I did like the 68 body better.

The 4-speed in the car right now is out of a 351C 4V '71 Cougar. I even got the factory Hurst shifter with it. I paid $75 for the whole setup back in the early '90s when the car was parted out. Don't think I could find one for that amount any more.

My handle is actually a form of an assembler language instruction: BALR 14,0. I have used this handle (or BALR1401) dating back to the old bulletin board days before the internet. There were a number of mainframe assembler language programmers who used easily recognized forms of common instructions as handles, as a way of identifying ourselves. It made it easy to recognize other mainframers to talk to.

So sorry as that loyalty win our hearts forever. I lost my Newfoundland “Tugboat “ he had saved my grandchildren from getting run over. Great handle Dogo

im fortunate to have purchased an early date and Vin ( January 9th 1968) cobra Jet block that was a backup for Tasca Ford. Big C” scratch in the back of the block and the vin starts out 114...... after talking with Lee Holman he said my block was from Ford Racing to Holman Moody then to Tasca . It’s now restored and Dynoed and going in my fully restored 1965Ford F100 backed by a TKO600 5 speed and an N” base/31spline 9 inch . It’s a short box in Wimbledon white. It’s named “white Lightning. It will be finished in August and would love to share pictures of its build if you would like. As a side note I was 17 years old and went to the 1968 Pomona winternationals and saw the Cobra jets stomp everyone and win class. So it’s very personal for me as well as you. Love your handle cobra jet.
