This topic has been beat to the ground I know. If I could find anything that sounded like my car in here I would just go with that.
But 20K in and this noise is consistent. Turn up the radio and drive works best, but cold starts with it echoing off the house and garage drive me insane. Attached is a video of it. Open to thoughts and input those who’ve dealt with it or choose to live with it.
car is at the dealer and is supposed to be picked up tomorrow.

i hear a exhaust and a diesel. maybe piston slap? could be an exhaust leak, i guess.
that doesn't sound like rod knock to me.

rod knock will only get worse and once you start hearing it its gonna get worse.

as the oil heats up it should get worse so it should be better on cold starts.

Mine sounded similar to that. My transmission recently took a shit on me actually pissing out trans fluid. Ford says my seal was blown and my tq converter is bad. It gradually got worse as far as the noise over time. It use to be I could only hear it in parking decks, then it was when slowly accelerating between shifts and then all the time.
I bought a used 10r80 with 12,000 miles on it for 2400.00 and a new stock tq converter for 500.00and supposed to get them installed next week for 400.00

Yea, I'm not sure I hear anything but an engine running. Engines make noise. 🤷

I had a 2018 F150 with the 5.0 that developed the dreaded tick in the first few thousand miles. I learned that higher octane gas somewhere between 91 and 93 would fix the issue. I didn’t like the higher priced fuel and the noise never felt “normal” to me so I parted ways with my noisy engine at the beginning of the pandemic.

I now have a 2020 GT that runs like a dream and doesn’t make any odd noises. I’m not sure if it’s luck of the draw or how they are broken in or what. I can tell you that I really got on my Mustang in the first thousand miles. Lots of red lines and other “frowned upon” behavior.

I feel your pain and hope you either find a solution or come to terms with the noise.

Here’s a control startup video from a normal engine.

Perfectly normal.

Be worried if you have excessive oil consumption.

Thanks for all the feedback. Picked up the car Wednesday and it sounded the same. Had them start a 21 with 646 miles and it didn’t sound like my car at all. Got an oil changed and had my concerns documented. Tired of banging my head against the wall about it. Just going to drive it until I’m tired of it.

[bump] back again. A new noise now. It’s intermittent so I don’t believe there is any significant damage occurring, but concerning all the same. No online threads or YouTube videos sound quite like this. Any feedback is welcomed. Local dealerships booked solid for the next few weeks, but it is scheduled.
