I've seen that this comes with the Navigation system as well. Screw the HD radio lol.
 navigation is separate... you have to pay for the nav system.

Sirius/XM is only a 5 or 6 month complimentary subscription then you have to pay for it afterwards

HD radio is only as good as your local broadcast station just with a higher fidelity.... Personally never used it.. Tired of commercials on the radio and same song played over and over after 20 or thirty minutes... Nope, cell phone has my music and probably a higher quality to boot!
Not if you're streaming it over bluetooth. :-)

I believe the 5 years youre talking about is the navigation update subscription that comes with the navigation package.
For $75 you can purchase a portable Garmin Nuvi GPS with both USA & Canada Maps with "lifetime" updates that you can simply move from one Vehicle to the other. No, its (not) built into the Dash but a simple weighted (bean-bag) portable mounting base bought on Amazon for a few bucks makes it a snap to use and store away.

One big reason I'm upgrading now instead of waiting a couple more years is to get all the tech stuff built in. Not that I use the nav often, it's handy at times.

And who knows, perhaps after 5 years, a new Mustang will entice me to upgrade again.

The build system on Ford.com says if you get the navigation you get 5 years of XM radio with it. I know you have to pay separately.

As the Geico commercial says, "everybody knows that". Would I be correct saying you think in dash NAV is a waste of money and you don't see why people don't just get a much cheaper/better/more accurate portable unit that is so easy to set up?

I am on the other side of the coin.

Whenever NAV discussions come up there is always someone who brings up the portable option. I think this was a bigger decision in the past where the only way to get the nav was you had to pay a couple grand for the "big screen" option. But with it broken down separately from the touch screen, it think its an easier option to add for "not much" more money.

I appreciate the integrated look of OE nav. I don't like a big lump sitting on my dash, whether its a crown shaped air freshener or a nav unit. I like not having to worry about setup/storage/theft of my nav unit. Or having a projectile in the cabin during a crash.
Modern nav systems are much improved and have narrowed the gap considerably with the stand alone units. And while I may have to pay if I choose to get periodic map updates, my experience with OE nav units ( BMW, Honda, Ford) has shown me that rarely do they not find what I need them to, and I have never updated any I owned.

Thats all well in good if you are sure that you will still own the same Vehicle for 5 years. Situations change and new Cars appear. Just because one foolishly opts for a 7 year Car Mortgage and will be (upside down) for the first 5 years does`nt mean that todays buyers will remain in the came vehicle to enjoy the 5 years of complimentary Sirius/XM Service if they purchase the Navigation with their Car. You can negotiate with Sirius/XM at renewal time and get specials if your threaten to Cancel for as low as $25 for 5 months or $90 for an additional 12 months of service. The "Free" 5 years of Sirius/XM Service is (included) in the prohibited price of the Upgraded Navigation/Radio Option.

Having owned all three major portable GPS Brands, Magellan, Tom Tom, and Garmin, I must say, my experience with Garmin has proved to be flawless as well.

It says SiriusXM Traffic and SiriusXM Travel Link for 5 years, not SiriusXM Satellite Radio.

Say its not so.....another gimmick? LMAO Exactly why I plan to purchase a 2015 Ford Mustang Convertible in Basic V6 Trim with SelectShift 6 speed Automatic Transmission, the Standard 050A Equipment Package (NC) and simply the Spare Tire Option # 66W for $195 and nothing else. MSRP of $31,315, period!

What do you mean "gimmick"? It clearly states it's SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link.

I made the mistake of assuming that meant radio, but that was my mistake, not their evil plot to deceive me. I didn't realize there were multiple services available from SiriusXM. But it makes complete sense.

I think it still comes with 6mo free radio as someone else pointed out. Which seems reasonable to me.

You get 5 years worth of free traffic advisories that update your Nav display in real time (or close to it). You get exactly what they say you will, and a careless reading of the offering by someone on the forum doesn't make it a gimmick.

Perhaps your correct, the Devil is (always) in the details. What is (unfair) is that to save a few extra dollars by not including the software module in "every" 2015 Mustang Radio, Base all the way to Option # 401A with a dozen speakers and sub woofers etc, if both Hyundai and Kia can include Sirius/XM in their 13K Econo-B Segment Sub Compact Vehicles, Fords profit margins should have enough fat to allow its inclusion in a 30K plus car! Now argue that point!

No, I don't have to. :paddle:

Actually, I don't disagree with that point at all. It's Ford's choice to only include that as part of the Premium package. I suppose they're wanting to push people to the Premium models. Of course, some people will always be put off by that when they don't want all the features you get with Premium and only one or two of them.

I'm fortunate, that I'm willing (and actually want) to go 'all-in' but I can see how that would cause an issue for the majority that don't want to pay for things they don't want just to get the one thing they do.

Spoken as a representative from Ford Marketing Department, thank you! My point was not that Ford does`nt have the right to package items and options as they choose to but the irony that other Manufacturers don`t require one to go "all in" simply to get a Base Radio that includes the Sirius/XM feature. After the initial free 6 month trial period, the Buyer can re-new their subscription or the service is discontinued. I`m well aware that its not cost effective to make every individual Option a stand alone feature but rather group them into packages (but) a very inexpensive software module incorporated into even their Base Radio would have been appreciated.
