Has the price come down? I swear when I ordered the salesman was telling me $1000, if it was $500 I would of went with the silver wheels.
I ordered in Feb 2016 and paid an extra $500 for the nickel wheels - I would have PERSONALLY paid ANYTHING to get rid of the black ones - but then I am 60 years old.

Wow you did really well!
I got done for 64k AT GT, it was under the RRP so I went with it, they also took a chunk off the Ranger I was buying at the same time and threw window tint on it aswell.
I got hit with $64k also. (AT,GT, Wheel and Paint options)
I didn't even bother trying to haggle on price.
Its an absolute bargain.
I would have paid $80k for this so extremely happy with that.

Yeah I didn't even bother trying to negotiate either. Few extra costs for the paint and stripes still came to around 64k

the black wheel thing must be an age thing cos the nickel wheels look so old fashioned.....

I think the black wheels will probably just be remembered as a stylistic quirk of the era, like the louvres on cars in the early seventies or similar. I'm personally not keen on them, but the car is a product of its time, so I'll put up with them. I originally ordered the nickel wheels but changed my mind for the above reasons.

In the decades ahead, some people restoring S550 GTs will probably be searching for unmolested original black rims.

I personally think it is SOOOO rude to give negative comments on a choice of bloody wheel colour. It is just a colour after all and it is totally up to the purchaser to get whatever they want and everyone else should keep their big beak out of it. We are all brothers and sisters on here so let's be kind to each other's personal choice.

Well said - I would never put anyone's preference down. I personally think the silver would look better on my Ruby Red. Couldn't make up my mind. If he wants to swap I'm up for it.:)
Yep I'm up for it, this might just work out for both of us.PM sent

I wasn't having a go at your wheel choice Daffy. I ordered nickel originally but changed to black. I don't really like the wheel in whatever colour it is to be frank but that's what we get.

How often are you going to go on about this shit mate? Everybody likes and doesn't like different things and are allowed to say so. I don't care if someone doesn't like what I like and I want them to say so. It's not a personal attack on me if they don't like what I like.
I will give negative comments about things I consider to be crap and I will give positive comments about things I consider to be good. I find YOUR comments SOOOO rude and a personal attack on everyone who has an opinion!

Exactly. I like to see a bit of debate. I like to see different opinions. Different opinions can help to change yours. I was once COMPLETELY against black wheels, but other people forced me to question my prejudices (hell, we've all got those for better or worse). Everyone should have an opinion, and everyone should be prepared to change their opinion if someone presents a convincing argument. Otherwise we don't learn anything as human beings.

The other thing to consider here is that the words we're reading are exactly that, just words with no body language or audible emphasis on words spoken and sometimes it can be hard to interpret or put into context the comments the way the person had originally intended. Very easy to misinterpret something as a "personal attack" when there was no intention of it.
