Would a 20X8 squared setup be ok on a 2020 GT Vert?

Currently running stock 19x8.5's. I have my eyes on some gorgeous rims but they only come in in 20x8. Anything wrong with that setup? Any pro's pr cons to that particular setup?

Also, was considering 20x8.5's, actually ordered them, but they arrived all fucked up so they are going back. Talking to a local tire guy, he did the math and had me get 245/35/20 tires for the 20x8.5's to get as close to stock settings as possible (height and width). So if I did go 20x8's, what tire size would I run with?

Other than that being waaaayyyy too small of a tire for the car? I can't understand why anyone would willingly go to a smaller tire for this car. If you're going to be getting new wheels and tires...I'd recommend larger tires, not smaller...

Something tells me if the wheel only comes in 20x8, it's probably not a good fit for the mustang.

All that being said, you do you. If you REALLY want to run something smaller...yeah 245/35/20 is probably the closest you'll get to your stock size of 255/40/19(?). You might be able to run a 255 (255/35/20 is identical to your stock size), but it'll bulge some on an 8 inch wheel. I believe standard size on 8 inch is 235 width...same as the base GT...which is comically small and ridiculous for the car. My car had these when I first got it and was the first thing I changed...car was squirming all over the place and tripping over itself trying to accelerate in stock form. Maybe some are OK with that.

All tires should have a "rim range" as specified from the manufacturer. you can go by that.

Maybe show us this "must have wheel" that's only available in an 8" width. There may be something else out there that's more appropriately sized for a 3800lb+ 440hp sports car.

Yea I was afraid of that. I wasnt looking to go smaller, just saw the wheel and loved it. I know I am going from 19 to 20. And I also dont want to make any other modifications, no spacers or anything if possible. I currently have 19x8.5 +42. So tell me, what size options do I have in 20's with no other mods needed. I do not have Brembos to clear, just the normal calipers.

You can run 20x10 and 20x11 wheels with 285/325 tires just fine with 0 modifications. Just need the correct wheel made for a Mustang. Luckily there's a lot of choices.

Would i be looking for the similar offset to make sure? Like would a +35 do, if I currently have +42? I see a lot of +35 and +40, not too many +42's.

I am not aware of any other options for a wheel like that. Looks like what I put on my red and black golf cart as a laugh, but don't think you want to move to 14" wheels and a 4 lug bolt pattern.

Just buy them and send it.

Here's a much better looking wheel with black and red, proper sizing, and offsets. Currently back ordered, but a much better option in my opinion.

I'm not too familiar with running wider 20 inch wheels, but you shouldn't need any modifications to run 20x10 squared with +ET 35 or maybe +40(I know +40 works with 19's) with 275 or 285/30. I'd also recommend 19s over 20s but that's my preference.

Look at some of the sponsors/vendors here for best wheel choices and feel free to reach out to them. They'll know what works.

Not even close to being better looking, but thanks for the effort. Remember, wheels are very subjective. I dont share in your opinion, but I do appreciate you trying.

This is the closest wheel I could find(in my short search) that may be more in-line with the styling you were looking for...

https://www.americanmuscle.com/eleg...e-wheel-rear-only-20x10-e008-051435dgbrf.html

They sell it as a rear-only fitment and it's a +38mm offset, so you may want to verify if it can or can't be used in front. They do sell an 8.5 inch wheel that can be used in front, if you want staggered...you could at least run the same 255 tires in front. ...or just run 255 squared i guess...at least it'll be no worse than you have now other than more wheel weight. They're also cast-aluminum and I've never heard of that brand so I can't speak to their durability. There's definitely better options for the price out there...they just may not be specifically the styling you were after.

Some other vendor options if you have a hard time finding some:

many others out there too: https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/forums/wheels-tires.123/

Thank you for all of the links in your other reply. I think I know what I am going to go with, and you have been a big help. I do have a question for you though. And I am asking in the most NON snarky and NON smartass way. I am genuinely curious. You say you don't have experience with 20" wheels, but then you recommend 19's over 20's. May I ask how you can recommend the 19's over the 20's if you don't have exp with the 20's?

In any case, right now I think I am going to go with XXR 571 20x9's square. And probably 255 35 20 tires. Still have a week or so to decide and still looking at wheels everyday, lol. So things could change before I order. Thanks again!!!
