I remove my collision from my State farm policy when mine goes into storage and add it back on in the Spring so I'm only paying for comp.

I get approval from my credit union on a collision waiver that they offer for vehicles stored for the season. They allow me 6 months a year so I remove it from around Dec till mid April +/-.

Ya, But what happens if someone steals it, and get into a wreck with it, and your vehicle isn't covered . Is the 100-120.00 savings worth it. How does that work, you if you have a loan still on the bank, and your car is not going to buff out.

Well it is in my garage attached to my house so I'm not worried about theft.

And on top of that, theft is covered under the comprehensive coverage, not collision. You need Collision for authorized drivers, not theft.

My GT is $500/year to insure. It stays fully covered even while its just sits in the garage for 5 months,

Most home break in's they go through the garage. So they on their way see a fast car, and in the house there must be a key.
IIRC Insurance gets dicey when they take a vehicle using a key.
To me the 20 bucks(if that) you save a month is NOT worth the risk.
But I'm not you.

You said it yourself, home break ins. If they steal a key, that's theft. Guess I'll put my keys in my safe that they aren't getting into.

By switching over to the lesser coverage i have enough left of my policy to keep it covered till April.
It was about to come up for the 2nd 6 mt payment.
The drop in rates is astounding.

As others have stated - storage. I have my GT3 with this coverage. But storage is not the same as just dropping collision. By dropping collision, you still have, and pay for, liability. This is why storage is much less expensive.
