I'm going into the 2nd winter now. They still have 9/32nds on all tires, and I put about 7500 miles on them last winter. I drive a little less than I did last year, so we'll see how they are after this winter. I think I'll be able to squeak one more winter out of them before they're done.
We live rather close lol ever had any problems running snows around here? I'm picking up a 17 or 18 next summer but winter still bugs me

I mean last winter was pretty mild, but never a single issue. In the snow we just got on Sunday, the car was easily better than many on the road for traction. I had no problems going through the 4-5" of it, even on a couple slight grades. Just be easy on the throttle and let the tires do the work.

A reliable beater would probably be smart for around here, but the S550 gets around very well on snows, and still lets me enjoy driving in the winter :)

where do you buy your nokians? here in BC kal tire has a monopoly on selling the brand and they cost a lot...
Kal Tire.

Some sales. I still have 4/32nds on tires that I bought in 2007 and I go out West for ski trips almost every year. They last a long time. They aren't ideal for slush though. I bought them specifically for the Mustang because I wanted something to complement track tires. I can always put the HakkaRs on in summer because the compound is relatively hard for road trips or whatnot.

Snowing crazy in Winnipeg right now. Must be 20ish inches and counting. I shoveled snow three times since yesterday.

i did have nokians before in a past life on a vw gti with hakka rsi's i bought from discount tire in bellingham WA when the dollar was stronger than today, so i can relate to what you said about slush. i don't know what makes it so poor in slush because i would always be floundering around until i find bottom.

Mustangs have been driven in the winter for a long time. Get a good winter tire package and remember; winter is a season, not a racetrack.

Hey everyone!

First of all, I'd like to introduce myself as this is my first post. I currently do not own a Mustang, but a friend of mine does, and he is responsible for igniting my newfound obsession with this vehicle.

Before I can proceed with this new interest, I must first determine whether or not it's possible for me to use this car as an all-year-round method of transportation. I live in Montreal and the winters can get quite harsh (very cold and lots of snow). Can you guys help me??? And please, be honest!!

Thank you!

I remember driving my 2010 GT from Chicago to Minnesota right after a blizzard without any real handling problems. I watched a Corvette become a snow plow and fill its engine compartment completely with packed snow. Just watch out for snow plows. That same trip, I had one come up my right lane throwing snow to the right. He passed me without switching the plow angle to the left. The snow hit me so hard that my GT went off onto the shoulder. I ended up sitting with snow two feet under my tires. I had to dig a trench down to the grass so that a wrecker could pull me back onto the Interstate.

That was you? Sorry, man... I had a Camaro back then... and hated Mustangs

I get a kick out of people talking about driving in snow or bad weather.... been doing it for decades... no biggie. Just don't drive like an idiot.

Tried out my Blizzaks during the first accumulated snow fall the other day. I passed several spun out SUV's and never once felt uncomfortable.

percentage-wise, how much snow do you see vs. wet/dry pavement with these tires? because that was the problem i was experiencing with mine... i was not getting more than 20% snowfall during the winter season and the pavement just ate them up :(
Probably 95-99% dry pavement. It snows in Minneapolis, but it gets cleared quickly. My driveway is gravel, so it is snow/ice covered all winter, but the rest of my driving is almost all pavement.
