No special fluid is required or necessary. I tend to buy whatever is on sale. RainX or Prestone.

But specifically don't use RainX (the original water repellent product) as this totally confuses the automatic wipers sensor !

I remember a class action from 2015 that was dismissed regarding RainX washer fluid and washer fluid level sensors but nothing to do with auto rain sensors. Can you please confirm?

OK, forget I mentioned Rain-X. Seems a lot of folks have had washer tank sensor issues. Never knew this. Sorry.

It makes the surface of the screen so hydrophobic that the wipers 'smear' the water into a film of small water droplets that confuse the sensor. It is like an external haze on the surface and the wipers go potty !

I was actually thinking about this yesterday on my weekend cruise. I'm still on my original OEM fluid. My car gets washed so much the windshield doesn't get dirty often.

Damn, I just bought 2 bottlesof the rain x cause Walmart has been out, so when I saw it back in stock last week. I got 2.
I guess buy anything, but rain x huh?

Stay away from the rain x washer fluid. It will leave a horrible film on your paint. Autofanatic made a video about it....

(The regular rain x windshield treatment is fine, obviously not in the reservoir though).

I’m still on the original fluid 5+ years later lol, never topped off yet. That’s how ocd I am. I just keep the windshield coated. Don’t really even need wipers.

I just looked it up, part of the safety package. Thats why I dont have them. Didnt need the Adaptive Cruise Control as I rarely to never use normal cruise control. Oh well.
