I note with interest in several threads on this Forum, guys are complaining about the Wiper Blade Arms hitting the Hood, when you try to lift the Wiper Blades up.

Read your Manual that came with the car.

It tells you, with the ignition turned off, manually move the Wiper Blades to the vertical position, which then allows the Wiper Blades to be lifted off the windscreen.

When you turn the ignition back on, the Wiper Blades automatically go back to the 'Home' or 'Parked' position.

Page 158 and 159 of your Manual.

It is called the 'Service Position', to lift the Wiper Blades.

The rear edge of my bonnet has a minor chip in line with the wiper arm which appears to have been caused by someone attempting to lift it from the lower most position or by opening the bonnet when the wiper arm was raised.

Noticed it a day or so after collecting it from the detailer.

The only reason I think this sort of procedure has been built is to lock the wiper arms securely in place to avoid them moving up the windscreen when we are all doing 280kph down Conrod Straight.

Most cars have wipers like this .....not something unique to the mustang.

Realised this had to be done the first time I washed the car.

New windscreen

So replaced the windscreen after it got Quacked...

:barf: had just paid for the Opticoat of the glass and i "may have had" the front screen tinted with a light UV film when i got the side glass done.:frusty:
Had my G6E T done as well whne i had it and you cant tell its done if done right and really cuts the heat.

Washed the car on the weekend and really noticed that the Opticoat was missing, anyone got any other coatings that i can do myself that would be as good as Opticoat?

Now sure which part of Perth you are in, might be worth giving Mark from Freedom Car Care a ring and see if he can do a call out for you (unless you want to drop it in to him of course). I wouldn't imagine just a windscreen would be very expensive nor take very long.

Have you tried clay-barring the windscreen first?

If you want anything as good as Opticoat you will have to pay for it. I would be cleaning the new screen to remove all those contaminants during manufacturing with soapy warm water and fine steel wool. It will not scratch glass. I will go for a sealant. Not a polish or a wax. Many sealants around. Maybe Wolfgang 3.0 Deep Gloss Paint Sealant may excite you. Don't forget curing time will apply - read the directions. Don't forget to clean the wiper blades with soapy water and run a microfibre cloth along the edge of the blades to remove the contaminants as well.
