I got these on a deal. $1200 out the door taxes and shipping. I know the reg Brembos are good but these were actually about $200 cheaper. I know drilled isn't as good but the rings are only $279 each. Should be a serious upgrade over my stock 4 piston stoppers.

With the 14s I have my choice if 18 or 19 for my track tires and rims.

My b day came 1 day early.

My biggest concern about this kit is brake pad options. Otherwise looks great.

Educate me. The only thing i know about them right now is the compound.

https://www.wilwood.com/BrakePads/BrakePadsApp?compound=BP-10
  • High performance street / strip, drag race, and track day categories using vented iron rotors.
  • Light to medium braking on dirt tracks including late models, modifieds, sportsman, and street stocks.
  • Disc brake conversions on street rods and muscle cars.
  • Medium friction, smooth engagement, low abrasion on iron rotors.
  • Flat torque curve.
  • Low to medium wear rate, increases as temperature increases.
  • Street Use OK
  • Compatible with all types of steel or iron rotors.
  • High performance street compound with improved friction, longer wear and lower dust levels than standard replacement pads.
  • Beds quickly and provides fast response without high rotor abrasion
It looks like the available brake compounds that will fit that plate size include the following:

BP-40 High-Temperature Racing Pads 4 Pads $208.44 150-12251K
Call (805) 388-1188
Details BP-30 High-Temperature Racing Pads 4 Pads $218.94 150-14779K
Call (805) 388-1188
Details PCM Street Performance / Racing Pads 4 Pads $452.74 150-15193K
Call (805) 388-1188
Details BP-10 Street Performance / Racing Pads 4 Pads $107.82 150-9488K
Call (805) 388-1188
Details BP-20 Street Performance / Racing Pads 4 Pads $151.44 150-9489K
Call (805) 388-1188
Details PolyMatrix A High-Temperature Racing Pads 4 Pads $223.26 15A-9977K
Call (805) 388-1188
Details PolyMatrix B High-Temperature Racing Pads 4 Pads $209.22 15B-9978K
Call (805) 388-1188
Details PolyMatrix E Street Performance / Racing Pads 4 Pads $149.70 15E-12604K
Call (805) 388-1188
Details PolyMatrix H High-Temperature Racing Pads 4 Pads $229.20 15H-9979K
Call (805) 388-1188

If I am reading it right performance will drop off after 800 degrees and problems set in at 900.

Not sure why are labeled not for street use but assume those are some combination of noisy, short life span and or have to be heated up to work very well.

The slightly more expensive BP20 is good to 1100 before fade and are also street grade...looks like those will be my replacements along with non drilled rotors in the future. The BP10s grab better when cold though.

As an update to above, when i quoted the rings were $279 each, that is the price of the more desirable slotted/non drilled rotors (the drilled ones are actually $329, go figure i guess labor even though it reduces surface area).

For a street pad I'd go with their Polymatrix E over anything else on that chart. Obviously there are options, more than I thought, but you're restricted to their pads. If it accepted the same pads as the Brembo 6 piston it would be awesome.

I have these and installation was pain in the rear. I had one brake line stripped from factory (I swear it wasn't me) and had to fix it. Then the rear brake kit had to go through a lit of adjustments because the parking brake was rubbing too much. Then the parking brake line was a bear to work with, but heard you can use a vice and pry the original attachments on the original brake line open and reuse them. I ended up buying cable attachments holders instead and they work just fine. Overall, they will look sweet and feel satisfying. Brakes on the dime

If i do anything to the rear it will just be upgraded pads and then after the rotors wear out get some upgraded upgraded ones. Steeda actually sells a 2 piece rear rotor that bolts right on the existing calipers. For now though just the fronts.

The pad length looks to be about 1/3 the length of GTPP Brembo.

Not sure the length, I'll look it up in a bit.

The big thing about these particular brakes is they were designed to give you top notch full size big brake stopping power but on a 14 inch ring which will clear the majority of 18 inch wheels.

It allows you to run 18s which I kept my stock 18s for winter or if I get damage and this lets me take advantage of lighter/cheaper 18 inch dedicated track wheels for track days which is in my future I believe.

Totally no reason (other than the price I got) to go with these if you are definitely always going to be running 19s or 20s.

So both part 13886 (14 inch rotor) and 13887 (15 inch rotor) use plate 6617 with a plate of 5.87 inches and a pad area of 5.2 inches.

I have no idea what the stock brembo run?? Anyone??

About 18 square inches
I think the 5.2 is linear inches...ie the pad area is 5.2 inches in length.

The pad volume is 11.1.

Do you have a link to the PP pad volume? I'll check it out.

So here is what I THINK...not what I actually know for sure.

If you use the length and width like it's a rectangle you get 16 square inches . That isn't the whole story though as its a curved shape and doesn't complete fill a rectangular space.

I am betting the 18 square inches for the 15 inch brembo is also just a length to width guesstimate.

16sq on a 14 inch ring vs 18sq in on a 15 inch ring sounds plausible.

Considering it is a slotted two piece rotor with 1100 degree pads and lots of upgrade options AND let's you run the lighter, more desirable (for wt. Reductions)18 inch wheels I believe this is a significant upgrade over stock brembo. Add to there there is a SIGNIFICANT weight savings on this 14 inch two piece kit vs the stock 15 inch 1 piece kit and probably a small advantage in weight over the stock PP with upgraded 2 piece rotors.

As far as stopping power though...putting two piece rotors on both kits and similar compound pads on both you should get a slight edge towards the stock PP brembo I would assume .

As far as costs...

Stock PP upgrade =$1300 plus about $900 for two piece rotors plus about $400 to $500 for new pads = around $2600

I Got these for $1,200.02
