Well, I have 8.5x19 with 255/40r19 on the front and 10x19 with 285/30r19 on the rear if it helps you gauge it. To me, it's perfect. Now could I go 295/30r19 tire on the rear? Probably, but I think it would be pushing it and there are less tire options in the size. Just something to think about.
Just a question, why are you running such a short tire in the rear? You could run 285/35 instead of 285/30. 285/30 is super short

Right. Tread Width and diameter are the two key metrics I look at. That's pretty much all you need. I try to stay close to stock diameter if I can, but I can't always get both in the tire I want.
Indeed that is super short.
According to the tire calculator on line, the tire diameter on my car is pretty much the same as my stock tires were. I think it speedo reads +/- 1 mph at 80 mph

What was your stock tire size? Non-PP GT is either 235/50/18 or 255/45/19 or 265/35/20. All three of those are much taller than 285/30/19. PP GT is 275/40/19 in the rear, also much taller than 285/30/19
Got it that makes more sense. Ignore my other response from a few minutes ago. Saw that post before I saw this one.
People want wider tires for the look but can't afford or are too cheap to buy wider wheels.
