Why the VAC Gauge on V-8?

Exactly my thinking.

I have a feeling this was the intention when putting the gauge there. With how accessible FI systems are becoming, many people who are pursuing the performance package will be super/turbo charging their cars. For those that will, they have eliminated the need to find an access point. For those that won't, enjoy your spiny gauge.

Damn you Ford...First they give it more of the Boss's internals so it'll better handle boost then they put a vac gauge on the dash...they're practically twisting our arms forcing us to go boosted.

Kenny Belle is killing me with price but those mammoth systems are making me drool. I enjoy my D1SC Procharger on my '03, but I want to move away from centrifical this time around, I see twin screws in my future.

I'm putting money into savings every month for the down payment and sometimes I think, maybe I should put a little smaller down payment and leave a bit for a power adder...Ford seems to be pushing me to give them a smaller down payment.

As mentioned in a previous response, a vacuum gauge was (and probably is) useful for minding fuel economy. This will likely be replaced with Vac/Boost on the supercharged models. Since I suspect that pic is from a deluxe package car, you get Vac to fill the dash hole. That may actually come in handy for many people who will be asking themselves why they bought the V8 car, once gas hits $6 a gallon. :shocked:

BTW - Vac gauges have long been an important mechanic's tool as well, indicating the level of cylinder sealing, valve condition & adjustment. More vacuum is what you wanted for a healthy road engine getting max mileage.
