WOW 53k and 63k euro for Ecoboosts. I love the fact that those guys are going to have to eat a huge loss when the official ones hit the dealer lots. Good luck selling the grey import model with no warranty or dealer support at anything near Dealer price. Maybe they will find someone impatient and dumb enough to want to be the First.

Yes. That's exactly their target group. ;)

P.S. don't forget that the official price here is 44 for EB and 49 fomEB convertible. Plus 2 for auto.

In Germany the law says "minimum 2 years".....in the UK it's 3 years and in Sweden 1 or 2 years.....should be the same all over EU!
2 years, yes. They do offer 5 years for an extra 7500 SEK (about 750 Euros) nowadays, though they didn't when I ordered. I'll probably add it if I can.

- Price after transport and taxes is higher than equal EU model
- Additional costs for adjusting lights, radio and navigation
- Additional costs for admission and registration
- Additional profit margin for EU importer (unless you do everything yourself)
- Uncertainty of CO2 valuation
- No factory warranty
- Lower residual value
- Higher risk of getting handed off a lemon

Obviously the first post is highly dependant on the Euro/Dollar rate. If you had ordered and paid one in August of 2014 when the euro was still at 1.40 dollar you would have actually saved money. At the current 1.15 rate however you're off much worse. Don't forget it's not just the price of the car in the US plus the shipping, on top of those you pay 10% import tax and on top of those you pay VAT which in your case is 21% (BTW).

And if you haven't paid enough yet then there is still the Dutch BPM tax to be paid. If you're lucky our tax office doesn't know that the end gearing in the US cars is actually higher than in the EU cars (for the manual EcoBoosts at least) and that the US version therefore has a higher CO2 emission than 179 grams. If you base your BPM declaration on the EU emission value and they accept it you'll end up paying the same amount as EU buyers, but if they don't accept it you run the risk of paying thousands of euros more. Every gram over 179 costs 434 euro extra.

So even though the US car is technically the better proposition with it's stronger head lights, better tail lights, better day time running lights, adaptive cruise, nicer mirrors and seat memory, in the end of the day it's also a more costly and more risky option. And don't forget you pay twice: you'll spend more now and get less trade in later, because it's an import.

Paid around 33.000€ for my EU Eco. I went to an importer in January before I ordered the car to get a quote. He wanted an additional 10.000€ for a premium with Performance package. I said no thanks, went to my Ford dealer and never looked back.

Interesting stuff, as many pointed out there are many uncertainties and high risks.

But figured since some Ford dealers import their own US cars it would have been a different story. I mean its practically the same car, and some countries accept the US model 1:1.

US Import is too expensive, see a quotation I've received in February 2015, this is a 100 % US equipped car with everything I wanted included, and made ready for use in Belgium, with a 2 year guaranty. The first lines are in Dutch, but the specifications of the car in English.

Ford Mustang Fastback 2.3i Ecoboost Premium 6 speed manual

Black exterior

Equipment group 201A (incl BLIS en cross traffic recognition)

Security package

Ecoboost performance package

Reverse sensing system

Adaptive cruise control with collision mitigation

Navigationsystem + SYNC2

Coin cub

All weather floor mats

Uw prijs: € 46942 + 21% btw

Wagen klaar voor registratie in België en met 2 jaar garantie.

The thing is that most grey importers are used to getting away with adding significant margins to the cars they import, because in the past they had a relatively unique proposition and they knew that Joe Average doesn't have the first clue how to handle transporting a car from the US to Europe and how to deal with the authorities and red tape involved with registration.

In this first year with limited availability of the EU model some of them still feel they can get away with it, but once the first sales rush is over and EU cars are available left, right and center (which will be the case in about 1 year from now) that will no longer fly.

Actually there are some independent sellers who sell US import cars. Guess what:

No performance pack (no central gauges, 18" rims etc)
Almost 10,000 eur above official dealer !!
The most important for me: NO official warranty.

So, why bother? For the memory seats and the front drl???

The era of US imports for Mustang is passed away. Period.

from 63000 eur down to 45700 and still nothing.... :D

He cannot understand that NO ONE is willing to buy a new car without official warranty.
