Is this normal? Why do dealers have such a limited inventory? I don't remember dealers not having a full lot of Mustangs? It's so frustrating to have to order a car and wait. I've never had to order a car before.

Where are you all finding your build dates on COTUS? I don't see one when I check COTUS. The sales manager told me my car would arrive on 1/5/15 and the salesman told me it would be built on 1/5/15. When I check COTUS with my VIN it says processing and nothing as to when it's scheduled to be built.

Is this normal for Mustangs? When I bought my current Mustang I didn't have to order, they had plenty on the lot. I'm driving myself crazy looking for a Mustang, literally checking every dealership in FL and some in Georgia. I have financing already but by the time mine gets here I will have to reapply for financing.

Last couple dealers I talked to said Ford was not trying to flood the market this time. Don't know if its true but heard that from 3 dealers so far. Maybe if they make it seems like the new Mustang is more rare it will be more desirable....no idea

Do you not have a build date yet? I see you say that you don't but your dealer can tell you your date. One week before your build date the window sticker will become available and you will see your progress bar start to move.

I think inventory differs greatly based on location in the US. I have heard some dealerships have 5+ cars on the lot while others have 1 or zero.

If that's true, it's stupid of Ford and they will be losing sales as a result. I don't know many people willing to wait 3+ months to get a car.

It wasn't so long ago that we had the bailout and perhaps manufacturers should make it easier for customers to buy a car.

I'm in an area with huge dealerships that normally have dozens of Mustangs on their lots, I can't ever remember these dealerships only having 5 Mustangs on their lots.

If it's like any other all-new car, production is not up to full speed. They are running the line slower to maintain quality and there are invariably production bottle necks on parts impacting production.

Checking the Chevy and Dodge dealerships in my area and they have plenty of new car inventory. Both 2015 Challangers and Camaros are in stock on their lots with plenty more en route to the dealerships. Ford is ridiculously slow with getting out the 2015 Mustang in comparison.

This! the 2015 is an all brand new platform. FYI - Ford also hit their promises of fall delivery.

Just want to point out that Ford was NOT part of that bailout, while Chevy and Dodge had to be saved.

Ford knows what they're doing.

I understand that it's a totally new platform but it just seems crazy that it's been so difficult to get a 2015 Mustang and I don't think most people, aside from enthusiasts, are going to wait and will go elsewhere. Additionally, while I was on Chevy's site I got a coupon for up to $1500 off a 2015 Chevy, it's $1000 off the Camaros. Ford isn't offering anything. I have no interest in a Camaro or Challenger but was curious if they had any incentives and inventory.

To be fair...there are people who ordered their cars in May/June and still do not have them.

Ford screwed the pooch on that one, and they need to make it right.

Mustang?
One of the larger Ford dealer in my area have at least a dozen MY2015s on the lot, too bad they don't have the configuration that we are looking for tho.

You still don't understand. It's a completely new platform. Virtually 100% different. The other competitors are the same car as before with slight changes hence why they have 1500 incentives. For anyone wanting a Mustang and not having patience there will be another 5 folks behind them to buy that car that sits in inventory.

Ford said deliveries in the Fall and they hit that window. Those that ordered in May and still don't have cars were mostly retail orders. I know some of the dealer stock orders are still sitting in QC but that is a chance you took by using a dealer order for your retail car.

1. people who oredered in june and may are actually not der orders.. they are work around.. they a re stock orders,,, and ford or any company is not obliged or compelled to fulfill o/t 2 or in normal terms stock orders.

People tried a walk arn .. and now u complain... that i ordered a car... no u tried to fool ford by setting a deal with a dealer for stock order...and tried gettig car early and it backfired
