You still don't understand. It's a completely new platform. Virtually 100% different. The other competitors are the same car as before with slight changes hence why they have 1500 incentives. For anyone wanting a Mustang and not having patience there will be another 5 folks behind them to buy that car that sits in inventory.

Ford said deliveries in the Fall and they hit that window. Those that ordered in May and still don't have cars were mostly retail orders. I know some of the dealer stock orders are still sitting in QC but that is a chance you took by using a dealer order for your retail car.
i agree with this

Just want to point out that Ford was NOT part of that bailout, while Chevy and Dodge had to be saved.

Ford knows what they're doing.

Agreed. It's just frustrating to deal with awful CS at dealerships and on top of that, the wait.

I am thankful to be saving roughly 3k with x plan and happy that I can order exactly what I want with all of the options I want.

Perhaps my frustration is because of the way dealerships treat women. One dealership didn't take me seriously and I have my own financing and new more about the 2015 Mustang then the salesman or sales manager. Pissed me off that they offered me practically nothing on my trade. My 2006 V6 with Pony Package in excellent condition with only 38,500 miles and they offer me between 4-5k! The exact same model and specs with 45k miles was listed at 15k on Carmax! Both Edmunds and KBB had it at over 10k for a trade and Auto Trader offered me 9k.

Is this normal? Why do dealers have such a limited inventory? I don't remember dealers not having a full lot of Mustangs? It's so frustrating to have to order a car and wait. I've never had to order a car before.

Where are you all finding your build dates on COTUS? I don't see one when I check COTUS. The sales manager told me my car would arrive on 1/5/15 and the salesman told me it would be built on 1/5/15. When I check COTUS with my VIN it says processing and nothing as to when it's scheduled to be built.

Is this normal for Mustangs? When I bought my current Mustang I didn't have to order, they had plenty on the lot. I'm driving myself crazy looking for a Mustang, literally checking every dealership in FL and some in Georgia. I have financing already but by the time mine gets here I will have to reapply for financing.

Production inventory has to ramp up, this is also the time of year where Mustang production is at it's lowest due to demand. Ford did not coordinate the 2015's release very well, but at the same time they also did not want to flood dealers with cars they cannot move well in the upcoming winter.

I understand you are in Florida, so you are basically seeing a shortage of a car that just came out a month ago, that it's facilities needed to be completely retooled to build. It's not a carryover like the 2014 was from the years past.

To be fair...there are people who ordered their cars in May/June and still do not have them.

Ford screwed the pooch on that one, and they need to make it right.
Amen. I still do not have my car and ordered it the first day I could. I have seen several new car launches and this by far has been the worst.

I agree with you all. However.... I ordered on 6/11 and I do not have my car yet. I did not order stock I ordered retail. I have seen many people on this forum who ordered august, sept, oct, and nov. who have their cars NOW. Why?!!!! This is a terrible way to treat the customer. I've bailed, Haven't told the dealer yet. I'm done with ALL things ford.

I ordered June 20, and that car is still In Order Processing. Got a VIN at the beginning of November, but still hasn't had a build date scheduled.

It all depends on the dealer, and what their Mustang allocation is. You just have to be patient. I don't have my car yet, but I will eventually. It's only been 5 1/2 months at this point; I"ve waited for things far longer than that.

It's not the wait I object to. It's Ford's goofy way of deciding which order to fill. Like they are pulling numbers from a hat.

It has nothing to do with pulling numbers from a hat. It has to do with dealer allocations.

This isn't an exact science, of course, but by way of example, it'll look something like this: Let's say that you've got three dealers. Dealer A sold 500 Mustangs last year. Dealer B sold 100 Mustangs last year. Dealer C sold 5 Mustangs last year.

When Ford is deciding which cars to make at the beginning of their production run, they'll pull 100 cars from Dealer A's orders; 20 cars from Dealer B's orders, and 1 car from Dealer C's orders. So it's entirely possible, if you ordered from Dealer C and were the first retail order they had, that Dealer C's one allocation went to a stock order, and they can't get back around to you until after those 100 orders from Dealer A and 20 orders from Dealer B (which might include retail orders that are just a few days old) get made.

I've just about hit my limit with all the BS I've just gone through.

Playing around on the M235i builder right now.

Already built my dream C7 and F-Type...makes me feel poor. haha. I've been extremely patient but my limits have been reached and I'm just pissed about this whole thing.

It's too bad your dealer(s) weren't up front with you at the start. I ordered in July and was told that my wait would be long. The explained to me the difference between ordering stock and retail and the possible consequences of going the route of stock at such an early date. With all of the info in my hands, the wait hasn't been as frustrating as it would be if I were anticipating delivery within a month or two. But then again, I shopped around 6 different dealers looking primarily for customer service since x-plan would get me essentially the same price anywhere.

p.s. Still don't have my car, but am now expecting it within the week.

BERSERKER SID: I ordered GT Premium CO on 05/20 and it stay at
MI Railyard for 30 days (Q/C)--it is now in Nebraska. I checked my
window sticker and down at the bottom it states O/T 1 and SPECIAL
ORDER that should mean retail.
