I'm glad to see some of you more well seasoned mustang owner in waiting folks chimed in, I thought I had gone back in time for minute... I do believe the statements made several times throughout this forum that there were QA/QC issues with a large number of the early order/production vehicles and that many of them are still awaiting fixes, re-inspection and release to transit. Also, with the exception of the upcoming holiday break at the end of the month the mustang portion of the assembly line is in full tune... around 1000 cars a day. Keep in mind, that there have been over 40,000 ordered to date which is more than half all the mustangs that were ordered all of last year, so the demand is much higher, if this rate continues they will make 160,000+ this year (last year was a little over 70,000). also keep in mind that this car is now being sold in Europe and parts of Asia.... more demand. And just to make ya feel better, my order to delivery time (I pick mine up Thursday morning) was about 7.5 weeks which is right around what my dealer told me.

BTW the more you use COTUS the more frustrated you'll be!!

It's too bad your dealer(s) weren't up front with you at the start. I ordered in July and was told that my wait would be long. The explained to me the difference between ordering stock and retail and the possible consequences of going the route of stock at such an early date. With all of the info in my hands, the wait hasn't been as frustrating as it would be if I were anticipating delivery within a month or two. But then again, I shopped around 6 different dealers looking primarily for customer service since x-plan would get me essentially the same price anywhere.

p.s. Still don't have my car, but am now expecting it within the week.
:hail: great post guys.

BERSERKER SID: I ordered GT Premium CO on 05/20 and it stay at
MI Railyard for 30 days (Q/C)--it is now in Nebraska. I checked my
window sticker and down at the bottom it states O/T 1 and SPECIAL
ORDER that should mean retail.
as u know. arn 200 cars were help for QC... now lemme ask you would u like a car with defect and delivered early or.. a car perfectly done and delivered litle late.. ford is taking utmost care at all retail orders

BERSERKER SID: You missed the point I was making; you indicated that
people who ordered in May/Jun were stock orders and trying to get around
the system. I was not complaining about Q/C, I was only stating the fact
that I was in Q/C for a mo and that my 05/20 order was "retail" (O/T 1)
Special Order. There is one thing I forgot is that when my GT Premium
went into prod 10/15 the window sticker read 9-Normal, 10/17 went out of
prod and back into in proc, 10/20 went back into in prod (EDD 11/20) but
now the top of the window sticker read 4-Rebill. My car is travelling some-
where in Nebraska (EDD 12/11).

I bet 8/10 are automatic

This! That's the problem, the first dealership I went into for a test drive didn't have a manual EcoBoost on the lot for me to test drive. I'm sick of auto and miss the fun of driving a manual. I didn't test drive the GT because I drive too aggressive to have that kind of power. When I test drove the manual GT in 06 which has less hp then the 15 EcoBoost, I had the salesman white knuckled in the passenger seat, lol. Plenty of power for me driving locally in the EcoBoost.

Theres guys here in HI who ordered in May and still haven't even gotten a VIN yet. Only now are dealers starting to get their allocation and its only like a couple cars at a time. So you're not the only one waiting.

In my area at least, the Dealers have people coming in and buying. My dealer is no longer accepting X-Plan on them, in fact I was the only one who was sold to at X-Plan, The owner said no more x-plan. I ordered in May and pick it up today. Ford is not limiting anything, Mustang had it's biggest November sales month in 8 years. FYI my car is perfect. It all depends on your location and the local market. In New England you have ton's of dealers in a small geographic area, no dealer usually has more than a handful of Mustangs. Going into winter here, dealers are not filling up their lots to have them sit in the snow. Again, I waited for over 6 months for my car and to me it was so worth it.

Guys u have to remember the car didn't start being made until mid july, alot of qc checks inbetween. We are just a very small part of people buying this car.Its only been 4.5 months since they starting making them and im willing to bet at this point your going to see them coming to the dealerships alot faster.

No one yet has been able to explain why those of us who ordered in May and June are still waiting for our cars when those who ordered in Aug. Sept, Oct, and now Nov. have their cars. I KNOW, I'VE HEARD all the conjectures , allocations, QC, dealer stock, lack of shipping transport. All baloney! All lack commen sense.

Ok maybe I don't understand how the retail market works. You ordered the same car I did, EB PP. I ordered mine 6/11. You ordered in Sept. you have your car I don't. We both ordered the same car. I ordered first. You ordered after I did. What law in any retail universe explains that? If I order a hamburger at Mcdonalds and you order a hamburger after me and get your's before I get mine how do you explain that?

I think it is a mix between dealer allocations and scheduling weirdness from the factory that cannot be explained.

Your dealer has probably been given all the mustang they were scheduled to get and his dealer has not, that's why they kept shipping mustangs to his dealer.

Its like if you ordered a burger from McDonalds but they had run out of burger patties, then he ordered a burger after you from a McDonalds down the street that still had patties, so he got his first.

That said there is also some weirdness going on. A friend of mine ordered the same car as I did from the same dealership. He ordered one week after me and got his car two weeks earlier than me. This is the part I cannot explain and is understandably frustrating.
