Thought about peering in but I decided against getting to personal and up close to the car. I know I wouldn't appreciate that. I'm sure I'll see it around again. I was surprised for sure. I had to stop and see if it was the real deal. Did a walk around and it appears to be from the outside. You can see the red center stripe on the steering wheel if you look real close. It's cocked to the left a bit like the front wheels are. Also, I believe those are red calipers and cup2's on the CF wheels.

There was an early VIN R for sale that was Jamal Hameedi's that I lost track of. I remember entertaining it's purchase. It fell off the radar. I wonder......
I probably wouldn't be offended if someone was looking at my chassis number. In fact, I can't park any of my R's anywhere without people walking up to them. Touching it is where I draw the line.

Jamal's car ended up with a Ford dealer in Evansville, Indiana. Sat there for many months. I tried 3 or 4 times to get them to budge off of the price & they held to there guns. Passed the info along to Harry (PP0001) & one of his neighbors ended up with it. Can not think of the # off hand but it may have been HR001. Ruby Red, tic over 4K miles.

Rex, it was in fact "HR001" as you mentioned and was a Base R painted in Ruby Red/Black Roof and was produced in Flat Rock way back in February 2016 and the very first 2017 R model produced for that MY.
Interesting story as the dealership in Evansville was advertising this car as car Chassis #3 based on the VIN # being "H5200003" after which time I called a close friend of mine from Augusta and suggested that he seriously take a look at purchasing this car based on knowing that it was chassis "HR001" after which time Jim pulled the trigger.
Just looked at it last week and what a cool car and luckily have first opportunity on this car but don't think that it is going anywhere soon but have learned to never say never.
On another note and after our communication yesterday I called today on "HR283" which was a Race Red/Black Roof Base R model and was seriously looking to purchase this car today based on only ~250 miles with an asking price of $61,888 but unfortunately it sold on Saturday.
What a great price for an outstanding car and somewhat sorry that I missed this car but somebody out there got an outstanding deal on a virtually brand new 2017 Base R model and happy for the new owner.

Yes, the Base R model club is very exclusive especially if we take away some of the Pilot Production/Pre Production Base R models from the overall total of 135 cars that have been assembled over the last 5 MY's.
The attached TY vehicle is a Base R that is still being held onto by Ford along with some other Base R's from the 2016 to 2018 MY's. I believe that this was a 2017 car as I cannot locate the VIN at the moment.
Have been very fortunate to have owned 3 Base R's and sold "HR019" to a great friend of mine with "GR107" located with an acquaintance not very far from me in the Phoenix area.
Should never have sold "HR019" but do realize that it went to a very special home therefore very happy about that.
Note the lack of the GPS/Navigation globe on the back of the Ruby Red R being loaded and trailered away to it's new home in Pennsylvania. That is the only way that I am aware of to determine a Base R model from the outside without looking for the radio delete plate and ~15 other interior items that were deleted on these Base R's.
Last picture is of "HR001" and was very fortunate to drive this Base R as well and it drives and handles like it was brand new. Jamal obviously took very good care of this car.

Yes, I think it was estimated that there are only 125 base models outside of the PP and TT cars out there.
