I do at least 1 track day monthly although pretty much with my Focus RS now... and I see many novices or infrequent track guys young & old take their prized possessions to the track. Even fellows with disabilities and handicap issues... it doesn't deter nor stop them. They have fun at their own pace. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. I enjoy chatting with them in the pits or paddock too... many cool folks out there just looking to have a safe environment to have fun. Good camaraderie....

My point is it is NOT a race... it's a High-Performance Driving Education (aka HPDE). So if you can "drive spirited" on the open roads or countryside or hills/valleys, then you can drive at nearly any track nationwide. People think race track driving... like on TV. But it's not even close to that.

Unless you're non-ambulatory or need special driving apparatus in your car, then I really don't think there's a good excuse for 99% out there. Like ohtobbad stated, "if you have not tracked your car, you are really missing what these cars can do" The rest (mostly) are just excuses.... :D
I agree 100%, the only person your racing ( if you wish to call it that)
Is yourself. It shows you what the car can do and more importantly
it will make you a better driver with a Hi performance car.
If you do nothing else, do the school.
I raced at this track many moons ago, forgot how much I missed it.
this is an affordable way to have some great fun in a safe environment.

There was an RS on the track this time, I followed him for a few laps.
The car is incredible, he made mistakes that if you done it in a 2 wheel drive car
you would be in trouble, the all wheel drive system is awesome.
Oh and it is very quick on a tight track.

Another Pony Car Coming
Past Monday, Rear tires down to 20% and
trying lots of lines, still experimenting,
The boss I let by has 40 years track experience,
I followed for several laps to see his lines.
If you have not tracked your car, you are really missing what these cars
can do, but warning you will get hooked.

First 5 minutes was letting car & tires get to full operating temp.
TR, just a great video of you and your R model getting to know each other and at a pretty cool track.

I noticed that you did a great job of picking your lines near the end and keeping up the RPM's in each gear.

Just a couple of questions:

What track where you at and how long was it as doesn't look to be that long?

If you are like me I did not get that close to the 8250 RPM redline when tracking down in Sebring. What was the maximum RPM that you got to?

Was that 2013 Boss 302 stock as it seemed to handle pretty well for a live axle vehicle and looks as though the driver has been around for a while?

Given a competitive situation I suspect that you could have overtaken the Boss 302 without issue, do you agree?

What tire pressures were you running front and back and how much fuel were you carrying?

Any issues with brake fade, limp mode, engine oil temperature, water temperature, etc?

Any modifications to your car and did you adjust any suspension settings for this event?

Thanks again for sharing this terrific experience and I look forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks!

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I did pass the Boss, but He is good friend, with over 35 years at this track and others.
the track is Atlantic motorsport Park in Nova Scotia, Canada. It is the only one in NS.
The last track in North America to be member club owned. This is cool but means they are
poor, so track always needs repairs and money. it is 1.8 miles with 11 turns and
quite some elevation changes, Actually not Ideal for the 350, but still lots of fun.
Great place to improve your driving skills.

My car is stock, I have camber plates ordered, checked front settings are
-1.40 passenger side, -1.50 drivers side. Ford Performance suggests 28PSI
Which I have done, on this day I had it set at 30 PSI.
In future on track I will run it at 28PSI, street recommends 35PSI.

I have doing a lot of experimenting on the track, there is 2 or 3 lines for most turns.
As far as RPMs, the track is bumpy in places so some of the shift points are
picked not to upset the car. Highest RPM is about 7500.
That was first run of day, car was full. I tend to fill it and take a couple
of jugs, depending on day you get very close to empty by last run.

Track day for me about two weekends ago at Sebring. It had just finished pouring so track was a little wet. Had fun hanging with a modified Corvette. Started raining more. Doing a lap in about 2:35. Even though I have AutoBLIP installed, I was doing it manually for experience. I spent nearly 2 hours of total track time in one day without any issues.
Took my Mazda MX-5 race prep'd car too for its first track day too. It was fun too.

Headed to Road Atlanta on Oct 28. Let's see how she handles elevation changes....

Great video! Thank you for sharing. Still new to the GT350/R world but haven't heard of AutoBLIP for these cars. Something new to research. :)
