Its not just about the weight, that can be made up elseware. The functional venting will be important to some.
I view it the same way I view those glue on pep boys hood scoops. I'm convinced that the only reason I haven't seen a roush scoop glued on a PT cruiser yet is that it costs more than $20.
My findings are from a guy who has run multiple types of vented CF hoods on race M3's. Could be me, I don't remember... Most cars with cheap, non researched vents end up losing downforce, and end up adding underhood pressure, instead of properly venting and hurt performance. A friends race team saw it with the roush front end/ hood combo on the 2010-14 race car they ran. I had problems with my BMW hoods till I got some $$$ ducting from behind my radiator done up in CF. So don't trust it till you see some real numbers, or some wind tunnel data. Until then, $1700 for some terribly minute gains (less than a mph on a straight) is just idiotic. And probably less than a degree of cooling at anything less than 140 mph.
Have you even looked into Tiger Racing? They have a great rep in the HPDE Mustang world. That hood was wind tunnel tested on the S197 although I will admit that I don't know if it was tested on the s550.

Anything made for a GT is going to need the hood stamped like the stock GT hood. You could do something custom, or buy a GT hood and the vents to go along with it.
just gonna find a GT hood then, hopefully they'll have a shadow black one available somewhere (Dealer sheet for my EBM shows Shadow Black Paint)
? Your name says that you have a V8. This is an ecoboost thread. I'm pretty sure yours will just drop in where the stock ones go. If you don't have a GT it will require a lot more than just drilling to get them in
