Yep....

Even though it’s classified as a Lemon, Ford RAV revokes the original 3/36 and puts a limited mileage warranty on it AND can resell...

I’ve mentioned this in my other threads relating to any Buy Back questions.... Ford is NOT losing any money on a Buy Back vehicle replacement OR refund.

Those Lemons are being recycled when they really should be crushed - because Ford is still trying to get nearly same resale price on a RAV w/branded title vs. a non-RAV.

This label should be on all RAV vehicles too:

Ford could easily put the 3/36000, 5/60000 warranty back on it and should.

Otherwise, they are advertising that this car will self destruct.

What kind of brain dead marketing ploy is that? Without a factory warranty, it is nothing more than a vehicle that probably will not be sold. In fact with that sticker, that it does have, and an astronomical price, it is truly a joke. I seriously doubt that Ford Credit would even finance that vehicle with that sticker, further cementing the idiocy of it all.

I agree with your sentiments.

However, by Law for any Lemon’d RAV vehicle, it MUST contain the disclosure and it’s Ford’s policy to revoke the original warranty due to the RAV Buy Back. That label must be present on the vehicle and Ford Corp will not revise that warranty other than the limited warranty as implied. The Dealership also has no say in how RAV operates or what they dictate on reacquired vehicles.

The other issue is, if someone buys that vehicle and tries to register it in another State, they may have doc or titling issues for a vehicle already branded as a Lemon.

The potential buyer of any such car might be able to purchase an Extended Warranty, but I’m not totally sure if that is or is not a possibility, especially if referring to an actual Ford Extended Warranty plan.

I’d suspect someone may get a good deal on it, or it’s just going to bounce from auction to auction, because it’s already hit 3-4 different states according to the CarFax report....

Yip, these cars should be crushed, or parted out and then crushed IMHO. It would limit dealers buying the cars at auction and then seeking to sell them at HUGE markups in hopes some unsuspecting sucker comes in to buy it and doesn't take the time to check the background on the car. This could be an honest oversight, but I would be very reserved to give the used car manager credit in saying that. I will be placing this dealer on my no-buy list. I have bought cars out of state and in one case sight unseen so when I catch wind of something like this from a dealer I put them on my "DO NOT DEAL WITH" list.

OP - any chance you sent them an email and asked them why they were attempting to sell the car under these conditions at this price?

For the hell of it, I called the dealer.
It got a new engine.

Dealer insists that it is STILL covered by the remaining 3/36 warranty AND the 5/60 warranty, and the 1 year/12 Lemon Law warranty.
I am sure that he is wrong, but have no way to verify or discount that statement.

He also said that Ford Credit would finance it, as a used vehicle, but at a higher rate. Tradeins would be a problem, he admitted, and no one would want it...a long term ownership black hole.
It had an MSRP of over $51,000. It is a Premium PP1, Magnaride, active exhaust, and other bells and whistles.

Ramp Motors is not too far from where I live. Don't like that place as the sales people are very aggressive and literally stalk you while you are shopping.

I am surprised that this vehicle has not been used as a demonstrator, or given to a salesman to drive, to prove out the repairs.
It is not being sold as a new vehicle, making the lack of use even more mysterious.

It appears that the only safe way to get this vehicle, is via a 3 or 4 year lease, as there is no tradein value for a lemon.

If purchased outright today, and traded on another car in 2 years, the value would be probably be very much under book.

I asked the dealer if this vehicle was available for lease.

The answer is no, as the residual value is so low on a FRAV Lemon buy back, that no leasing company wants to be stuck with it, at the end of the lease period, especially Ford Motor Credit.

The vehicle was purchased by the current dealer at auction, after repair by Ford, and I suspect, well below the current advertised price of $39,000.
It might be a good deal at $30,000 or less. It does carry the balance of the factory warranties.
