Nice... Done the 1320 yet?
I have not. I have some FRPP axles here, and some BMR rear suspension parts on order. When the BMR parts get here I will get everything in the back done and align the car and then if my wheels and tires are here by then, I will head to the track ASAP.

Would love to see what your car does at the track... I may take mine out just to confirm I can do 10s on street tires but that's my only curiosity... I think the Bama tune whipple car did just that already though.

I take my car to Hypermotive next Monday for the install... Yea I'm Geeked like a kid before Christmas..

Congrats!!

Jayman33 - Can we throw my car on a dyno to get some numbers once finished? I know there may be additional cost but I'd love to know what I'm working with before the drive back home :headbonk:

Questions, Questions

Ok, i have a 2015 mustang gt with perf package, 6 speed manual. when i bought it, i wanted a cobra, but they stopped making them until now the 2016 comes out. was probably going to trade mine back in, but cant seem to touch one for less than 20K over sticker, even from the dealer i bought 6 cars from in the last year!

why do i want the cobra? its the top of the line mustang. always wanted the best one out there. loved the idea of the 2014 with supercharger and 661 HP, but after having mine, dont want to go back to that body style, as i recently found one for sale at my dealer.

so as i sit thinking about the gt350 cobra, i go back to just keeping mine and adding a supercharger to it.

i was thinking just go with the ford/roush unit, but when i was directed to a speed shop from my own dealer(one of the sales mgrs) he sent me to loper's in phoenix, az. he instantly said he puts on a whipple, and is so much better than the ford racing one. costs a little bit more, about 1500-2000 more.

so, which is better? since this is a whipple forum, im sure most or all will say whipple.

I love the power in my car, but love the idea of a supercharger under the hood. dont plan on tracking it or anything, goes to work, and wherever i want to go and play with it here and there.

do i need to buy anything else or worry about anything breaking with a kit? can the car handle it as it? i would hate to blow a motor because of it or something like that.

can you really feel so much difference? i love the idea of the whine, how loud is it? what if you drive it normal, is that possible any longer? how about fuel mileage, does that go down a lot now? is there a boost gauge anyplace that can be put in? i have the vacuum gauge from the PP, will that do nothing now or what does it do in boost mode?

what is the warranty if any? i have a ford esp warranty, 7/100K, is it still good or not at all? i guess my strut tower bar serves no use after this as it wont fit?

i also live in AZ, its hot here!!!! what will this do to the engine with the SC on it, how will temps be??

can anyone recommend anyplace else for install?

are there different stages or kits for this? or just one for this car? i would rather be safe than sorry from too much boost later down the line.

i hope you can help answers some of these, loved reading the posts.

anything else you can add would be great.

thank you

1. so, which is better? since this is a whipple forum, im sure most or all will say whipple.

> In my opinion the Whipple is better than the FRPP or Roush. But I would not say that the FRPP or Roush are not good units. They are. All three can make more than enough power to blow your motor.

2. do i need to buy anything else or worry about anything breaking with a kit? can the car handle it as it? i would hate to blow a motor because of it or something like that.

If you keep the stock boost levels from the kits you will be fine for your motor. But you can add billet oil pump gears and billet crank sprockets for peace of mind. They are not absoluteley needed but I would add them if it were my build. But a blower will stress other driveline components, clutch, halfshafts driveshaft. And if you ever use sticky tires kiss your halfshafts goodby. So add halfshafts and a driveshaft if you plan on 1/4 mile racing.

3. can you really feel so much difference? i love the idea of the whine, how loud is it? what if you drive it normal, is that possible any longer? how about fuel mileage, does that go down a lot now? is there a boost gauge anyplace that can be put in? i have the vacuum gauge from the PP, will that do nothing now or what does it do in boost mode?

Yes you will feel a difference. A big difference. Im sure those with the actual blowers will chime in on the whine. Fuel mileage wont change much if you are driving normal and not in boost. But since you have now added alot of power the thrill of feeling it will make you get into boost and it will go down. You can place a boost gauge on your driver side a pillar.
And the car will drive very normal when your not in boost.

4. i also live in AZ, its hot here!!!! what will this do to the engine with the SC on it, how will temps be??
Heat will slow down any car blower or not. But the supercharger will be protected by the tune. It will pull timing when it senses it getting hot.
This is a reason I prefer the Whipple. I feel that their intercooler and heat exchanger are better than the Roush/FRPP and these will help with AZ heat.

5. can anyone recommend anyplace else for install?

Someone will chime in.

6. are there different stages or kits for this? or just one for this car? i would rather be safe than sorry from too much boost later down the line.

I know American Muscle is planning on different stages. There may be others. But The stock kit from Whipple seems to be a winner in of itself.

7. what is the warranty if any? i have a ford esp warranty, 7/100K, is it still good or not at all? i guess my strut tower bar serves no use after this as it wont fit?

Your warranty as to your powertrain (Engine, trans, driveline) will not cover any damage that the dealer feels was caused by the supercharger.
But Whipple does have a small powertrain warranty that can be purchased for a small extra fee. But it is in no way as good as you Ford warranty. But at least it is something.

Remember one thing. Dont mod your car if you are unable to fix the thing if it breaks. While a car with a blower on it with a good tune should last a long time, there is not guarantee that it will. There is nothing worse than having a new car with a blown non warrantied engine sitting in a garage because you dont have the $8K to get a new motor.
