Thank you for the awesome pictures. I just have a couple questions.

1. This looks to be a PP car based on the black wheels but I'm not seeing the K Brace in the pictures. Did Hennesy remove or cut it for the install? It looks like there is caster/camber plates on the strut towers?

2. The overflow tank has been replaced. Is this a separate mod or is it part of the Whipple kit?

That is a good photo! I'm interested in the Whipple intercooler over flow tank. My understanding is that Whipple made in over size and there wasn't a good place for it under the hood, so it's installed inside the driver side wheel well.

That should be interesting! I can't wait to see the install on that. I wonder if acess to it later will be limited or difficult because of the location?

I'm also really interested in the pully size because although I'd love to have street scorching 750 HP, I don't want to shorten the engine life too quickly.

I guess I'll give Whipple a call and see if the 4" pulley is standard base issue with 8lbs. Of boost or what. I'd be ok with just adding 150 HP to this motor and have a longer life span and good driveability. Know what I mean?

Nice Jamie! Glad to see the brace in that photo. That makes me feel a lot better. I'm sure you as well. I really like the matching red air element shroud. I wonder if it's that way for the other colors, that would be nice!

What color did you order?

Black for me. not a fan of color under the hood. Black and chrome under the hood for me for the contrasting wow factor.

But that's why we have options ;)

I hear ya but the 650 whp is too tempting for me

2015 shortblock is stronger. 650 wheel with a quality tune and common sense should live just fine.

This. This is why I'm not gonna touch the tune that comes with it and enjoy what this kit gives me and just be sensible. I am looking forward to a very long and happy relationship with my Whippled pony.

3.75" SC Pulley is standard which makes 10psi of boost with the stock TB or 11psi with the 132mm Crusher throttle body. A 4" pulley can be substituted and will net roughly 1.5psi less. One thing to note, this power gain is part of the kit design and all the unique features, not just boost and tuning. While some may be able to cram enough boost and timing to get to these numbers, we feel comfortable at this power level for an everyday street driver. We won't offer anything that we don't think will survive.

The stock RPM limiter will be slightly lower, 7000rpm vs 7200 as shown as that was for testing, the net loss is 1-4 hp. But this testing was done with the smaller heat exchanger (prototype), production units are netting about 5-10rw more with the larger heat exchanger that is standard with every kit. Standard HE is nearly 40% bigger.....

The K-Support clears the SC and components with no problem. No modification needed. The strut tower brace will not fit due to the SC height.

The IC reservoir is located in the driver inner fender. Accessible from the top, just below the air filter or from the wheel hose by removing a few bolts, pretty easy. We didn't put it there because there was nowhere in the engine compartment, we put it there to get more capacity and away from the engine heat. Other companies reservoirs get hot, especially if aluminum and help heat the water/coolant. While this is a small amount, we left no stone unturned.

As for the soundtube, since we did not build a 11-14 kit, we didn't know about plugging that off until last minute before sema so it wasn't done. Then couldn't get some in time.....:frusty: All have the block off at the firewall now, standard in every kit.

Hope this helps.:ford:

Thanks very much! That helps tremendiously. Maybe I could ask you a few more questions...

1. Does the install of the require the front end of the car to be removed to install the front radiator?

2. Does the front wheel well liner get removed and modified to install the intercooler tank?

3. Is there a closed air box coming?

4. Are the air boxes painted to match SC color choice?

Again...thanks very much in advance.

No problem. It technically can be done without removing fascia, but its far easier to remove. You have to remove the bottom shroud either way, the upper radiator shroud is only 8 push pins and the fascia is really easy to come off. We have them off in about 30 minutes including bottom and top. There's 2 little bolts that you have to know where they are at to get it loose, but once you know that, its very easy.

No, wheel housing (OEM calls it that) or inner fender does not get modified or removed. If you have fascia off, the IC reservoir uses 3 factory bolt holes and that holds the IC pump as well. We drill 1 hole to feed the IC feed line from HE to IC (1 1/2" hole saw) and cut about a 2" section of plastic for the inlet of the HE. No other cuts.

Yes, for CA emissions applications, we have a plastic air box (with lid) including the carbon trap. It still is open on the bottom/front for proper airflow but the top is sealed.

Currently the CAI option (all we currently have) comes in standard black. We can certainly color match it if you go with a custom color option. The MAF can be powder coated as well. Standard is black so this must be requested.

This is great! Thanks again for your patients, last question of the night.

1. So Can I assume then, for a california purchase/Install I need to wait for the closed top air box to be CARB compliant?

Correct, to be 50-state legal (nobody currently is), you will need the carbon trap style air system and the EO decal. The good news is that the calibration is the same so technically its interchangeable.

We have applied for EO, we expect to be done in 90-120 days.

Well, pulled the trigger on a Whipple kit for my PP GT! So excited!

I was originally going with Roush as my dealer said they would honor the factory power train warranty (with them installing it) but I just can't do it. I am a huge Whipple fan and had one on my 05 and have been really regretting the decision. The new system looks freaking unbelievable and in my opinion is far superior to Roush.

The straw that broke the Roush camel's (Mike Mike Mike Mike Mike) back was finding out the K brace gets destroyed for installation. I believe Roush is the only one that does this and personally I don't like it.

Tasca Mod Shop will be doing the install so that makes me happy. My father would be proud of me as he used to race Tasca back in the 60's. Tasca has a huge reputation for outstanding performance and couldn't be happier to have them do the install.

I'm told we are looking at least 4 weeks before the kit arrives as Whipple just started shipping preorders and I'm late to the list but I'm not concerned, it just gives me more time to save some money.

I will be sure to keep you guys who may be interested up to date.

Jaime

I feel like a kid on Christmas morning reading this lol. Thank you for taking the time to join my thread and answer these questions for us.

Tasca has an amazing reputation around here and since for warranty purposes I can not install this kit (kinda bummed) I couldn't think of any place better. Thanks for the vote of confidence with them it validates my decision to go with them.

This will be my second Whipple SC. My last was your joint effort FFRP/Whipple kit on my 2005 Mustang GT. That car brought me years of faithful & reliable enjoyment putting 450 hp to the wheels. As a matter of fact a good friend of mine bought it and I get to see it regularly.

Very glad to hear you clear up any doubt of the K Brace needing cutting and that there is a firewall plug included for the sound tube removal. Nice to know what size pulley comes in the kit and I for one will be using the 3.75" and your tune for the long haul.

If I may I have a few questions as well:

1. Will I still be able to use the drive mode select toggle? Very curious as to what happens with the tune when track mode or sport mode is selected. Hell, even wet/snow mode for that matter.

2a. Does this kit run the SC pulley separately from the accessory drive belt?

2b. If yes, how many rib is the pulley?

2c. If it is driven with all other accessories is there a worry for belt slip?

2d. My last kit had an optional 8 rib pulley kit (which I loved) and I am wondering if there will be one for this kit.

3. I saw a prototype install with Whipple coil covers. Will this be an option from you in the future?

4. How the hell do you plan to keep the smile off my face?

Once again I thank you for your time and patience with us,

Jaime

Jmeo,

How much are you paying roughly for the install? I am curious to know if it is ok to know.

Thanks!

Glad to help.

1. Yes, will still work in the different modes. I've used track here but have not tried snow, as its about 60deg here now :) Those settings are offsets from the base cal so they maintain.

2. SC pulley and idler system is on the forward loop, sharing the alternator and water pump. 6-rib system. No slip issues what so ever. Massive wrap on the huge pulley (remember its a big SC) and a true HD Dayco tensioner. This is an incredible belt system, we can guarantee that. We also have a 10-rib belt system coming in about 30 days (already on dyno testing) that comes with an ATI balancer, billet idlers and billet water pump pulley...

3. We do have a set of carbon coil covers that were offering. Have a few kits in stock. They are blank on the top so we've been adding some domed decals to them for some added effect.

4. No plans, we wanna see that huge grin!!

Wow Whipple, Thanks for getting me excited again! And you guys are back with a vengeance with this new kit!
I am impressed with every little thing you did to control heat/heat soak. I had a Saleen blower on an 05 GT and it was a little heat pump even at 10-12 PSI. I really had to address the inter cooler/heat exchanger system. I had to get a better pump, bigger heat exchanger with fans, bigger reservoir, and reroute my hoses. Every little bit helped. But it looks like you guys have already addressed most of this with your large standard heat exchanger, maxed out intercooler core, larger reservoir.

I have alot of questions here, sorry in advance.
1. Is the standard heat exchanger the same size as the option one with fans? Any pics or dimensions of either or both?
2. What fluid pump are you using? Whats its GPM? And do you know what its GPM is while its plugged into the system?
3. Does the reservoir have a big enough opening to put ice into it?
4. What pulley size or throttle body setup will the optional powertrain warranty be for?
5. Are you guys gonna have a tune for auto cars? With optional PT warranty?
6. How loud is the whine in this head unit compared to say the one in the 05-10 4.6 3v cars?

Thanks in advance! And sorry to bombard you!

How does anyone feel about the removal of the tower strut bar on PP cars? Will you replace it with something that will fit or is it just for looks?
