Hey guys, I'll preface this by saying that I've never owned a supercharged vehicle, so if some of these questions are stupid, there's a very good reason why!

Firstly, I don't know what the fuel situation is in America (feel free to enlighten me), but here in Australia, E85 and 98 octane are available everywhere you go.
So, if you own an otherwise stock Mustang and bolt on the "basic" kit, what sort of power gains are typical?

For the record, the car will be daily driven. It's not a race car, drag car or anything of the sort. I just want to be able to play from time to time.

Is there anything else I should know?
Do I need to flash the vehicle every time I change my fuel quality?
What effect does the s/c have on fuel economy if you drive it "like for like"?

PS you guys in the U.S. get it pretty good, the basic kit sells for $10,500 usd ($14,500 aud) over here.....

Also I've included a pic of my current ride for those who're interested in what goes on here in Australia... It's a 4.0, 6 cylinder turbo before you ask... And yes, it goes VERY nicely thank you!
Mustang arrives in a few months

There are many great SC packages and kits to be had and I favor the twin screw type becuase of the the great torque curve. Both the Kenne Bell and Whipple kits are great high quality and well thought out, I picked Whipple and many here also have. Whipple makes great power and offers an OEM looking and functioning system that has a calibration leading the industry in advanced feature for power and safety. With the Whipple cal it will sense your high octane fuel you can get down under and add timing and power automatically. Not many other calibrations can claim this. Look at the other threads here in regards to whipple and the new flight control and Gaurdian features with the new calibration.

I was down under several years back for 3 weeks. Spent time all up the easy coast. Townsville, cairns and the coast north of cairns (daintree as I recall?). Great place. Awesome people. Tons of fun and you guys do get some really cool factory cars down there.

Thanks for the info!
Cuttting the car and grinding the block doesn't seem to appealing... Whipple have that bit covered.
Fuel economy? Similar or drastically worse?

Fuel economy depends on how you drive. I don't have Whipple's tune but it is amazing. On the highway at 75 mph in 6th gear with 3.31 gears, I average 25.5 mpg. But, I normally floor it everywhere lol. For some reason my car just likes boost. I average 11 mog lol.

OP, look at Whipple's flight control thread. Since you have different octanes in your area, Whipple's calibration would be prefect for you. Their calibration self adjust depending on the octane. You can also control the power output per gear or globally. No other calibration is able to do what Whipple's can. I would recommend getting the 132mm TB and 72lb injectors with the kit. I started out with the stock TB and it was a mistake lol. The 132mm TB drives better than stock. Also, if you decide that you want more power, just swap the pulley. Whipple's calibration will adjust for higher boost psi.

Just thought I would give ya some of your own medicine. I'm out

Doctor Fishtail how about actually posting something of value instead of being a troll. Just because you have inferior parts on your car doesn't mean that you have to misguide others. People come to the forums for guidance and to see results. Hell, I don't even have Whipple's calibration yet I recommend that people jump on it.

I did. Go look at post #6  Forums are for giving and obtaining advice. Not for drama.

Can you define "drives better than stock" for me?
Do you mean improved throttle response?
Injectors. Are the stock ones too small for even minimal boost pressures?
Thanks for the advice so far btw.

"Drives better than stock" is something that a lot of members have stated, it probably depends on someones perception. I feel that under normal driving conditions, my car feels smoother than it did when it was stock. You wouldn't know that my car has a super charger or over 700rwhp by just driving it around like a normal DD. Now, when you give it some throttle or floor it, you know that it is not stock.

The whipple kit comes with 58lb injectors. I believe that you need the 72lb injectors to take full advantage of the Flight Control but don't quote me on that. I would talk to Whipple SC. I ask Dustin questions all of the time in regards to Mustangs, even not related to Whipple. But, the 58lb injectors are probably enough for 700rwhp. The Whipple kit with the 132mm TB and 58lb injectors will have you at 11 psi with no issues at all. That is with the 3.75 pulley, if you want more boost "3.625 pulley" you would need the 72lb injectors, I believe. I have the 3.625 pulley and love it.

A few final questions if I may -
The Whipplemsupercharger kit is sold here in Aus through a dealer. I reckon I could import one into Australia, at full price, cheaper than I can buy it locally.
The angle they're taking is that the Aussie version has been "optimised" (in my words) for the Australian delivered Mustangs.
For the life of me, I can't see how the vehicles would be any different in terms of fitment.
Perhaps it's an emissions thing?
Also, does the kit ever get sold below the price that Whipple quote on their website? Eg. Dealers having a special or whatever?
I'm pretty keen. I just need a car to bolt it to and I don't want to spend another 20% on top of the vehicle purchase price to make it happen, if that makes any sense.
