So I am in the market for a mustang right now and I planning to get the 2017 mustang while they are clearancing them out within the next two months. So my goal is to put the whipple kit on it as the funds come in. I have a couple questions to start with. The first one is the manual vs the automatic (I know that the manual shifting is nostalgic and more fun). With that being said, I have done some research which states the automatic transmission can the handle this set up better, is this true? Next, realistically, what mods should be done? Also, can this car handle the whipple kit stock?

Regards with everything,
P

Gonna be selling my 15 here shortly. Already set up with stage 2 whipple. Manual car with only 4800 miles on it. Immaculate and absolutely rips. Selling cause Iam getting a GT350 shelby. Check out my build page. Link under signature on post.

Amazing car, it looks fantastic. I wish I saw this before I bought my 2017 GT.

The automatic is a lot more stout for that application. As far as mods you can go as nuts as you want. Headers, cobra jet intake, etc. But if it was my car. I'd do the crank gear and the oil pump gear when the whipple is installed.

Auto can handle a good bit more power, as far as mods needed for the stage 2.

I'd personally go with Oil Pump Gears, Crank Gear and Half Shafts. Half Shafts are dependent on if you decide to go to the track or, if you get some sticky tires. We have seen stock half shafts break from wheel hop though. OPG's and CG are definitely recommended.

if you have any questions on pricing or need support for installs and packages just let us know and we'll do our best to help you out.

As you mentioned the manual is definitely more fun to drive than the auto. However the auto will outrun the manual at the same boost level just for the fact that there's no human needed for the auto to shift.

With that said they're both going to be a lot of fun to drive and put a smile on your face so you really can't go wrong either way.

The other question you asked was if a complete stock car can handle the Whipple and the answer is yes. We were one of the first to install and run a Whipple on the 2015+ S550 platform and the car ran and performed great with their system right out of the box. We eventually turned it up and made the mid 850 range still on the stock block and transmission, went 9.70@150 and never had a single issue with the car.

If you have any other questions regarding this setup give us a shout and we'll be glad to help you out. We're Whipple's largest US distributor and are here to assist you.
