When Ford bought back my GT350 Tech Pack in March, unfortunately they were unable to replace it with an R. They did offer to replace it with a 2017 but at the time I was too frustrated to pursue another one. I bought an RS5 and have been enjoying it. But last month my bug returned for the FPC and even more so than ever to have an R. After weeks and thousands of emails I currently have a few choices and I am curious what others opinions are. I like these threads because occasionally I receive insight I had not previously considered. So, have at it, feel free to ask any questions that you may base your decision off of, and to answer a few questions:

I own an F150, Fusion, the RS5 and the GF has a Jetta. I commute in the Fusion so the R would be primarily driven for enjoyment purposes and not my 70 mile (roundtrip) drive to work.
I have never been to the track and would LOVE to go but I work 50+ hours a week and one weekend off per month so usually time does not permit. So the R would not be tracked often to say the least.

My choices are as follows and are represented in the poll:

New 2017 Black R (undelivered) MSRP - $68020
Black is my LAST choice in color
Out of state

New 2016 White R $2500 over MSRP - $69470
I am searching for White, MSRP deal
Further Out of State

Continue to search for a 2018 allocation at MSRP and get what I want but risk another price increase

Don't buy an R at all - buy a standard GT350 or nothing.

If black is your last color choice I'd go with the white 2016 since that is what you want. If it has everything else you want then go for it!

Black is the best colour choice! Especially with white stripes, but I may be biased :D

If you really want white then I wouldn't settle for anything else as you won't be truly happy with it.

Only thing to consider is that have 18R's been confirmed?? If so, you definitely got time, but I think if they do build any R's in MY18 they'll be very limited in supply.

I think you will have regret if you go with another 350 and don't get the R. personally I would jump all over the black one if it has the black stripes. I told myself I would never own another black vehicle, but the R looks way to good in Black, Currently trying to find a Black/Black R, So if you go another route let me know! ;)

Yes anything I do not buy will be passed on, a few people have priority though. The stripes are probably my least favorite thing about the black and the white! Stripeless FTW :D

id do the 16. its what you are looking for and its on the ground so no waiting or being jerked around by a dealer. 2500 is a very reasonable adm too and worth it to have it now, congrats and it is a great dilemma you are in

If the '16 has what you want the $2500 ADM is nothing.

I think white, if that is the color you like the best. Personally, I feel that if you are going to spend so much money on a pleasure car, then it ought to have exactly what you want, or it's not worth spending the money on. Plus, that adm on the R is very small, definitely worth it to get the options you like.

Here's my opinion. Buy the 16 your getting a model year that only has 540 something R units that where built versus 17 where there's going to be 1000 units built. That should make the 16 a more desirable car in 15 to 20 years. 18 R's are going to be, in my opinion, almost as hard as getting a 15 GT350 (R or non R). It's going to be a very short model year, especially if they shut down production during the winter months!

Again this is my 2 cents.

1. Get an R, any R.
2. Don't wait for 2018, you just don't know what's coming, if any R's.
3. Does the '16 have the oil cooler line recall done??
4. Black looks killer.....when clean......which is up to 5 minutes after it's washed. And don't breath on the black paint, as it will scratch. I vote for the white mainly because rock chips will be white underneath and will hide dust much better.

Get the first R you can get your hands on that you can live with and not regret buying something else. It's an amazing car regardless of color.
