I have borla stype catback for my 2015 v6. I was thinking about adding an hpipe or xpipe. I want to keep my cats and resonator. Which would sound better??

Personally X pipe

X pipe provides more sound and also more HP at the higher end

H pipe more of a AM grumble and low end torque

For a v6 the H pipe might give you a bit more rumble like stated above. I'd go more for sound since the difference in power between the two would probably be very small. I had an H pipe on my 94' V6 Mustang but back then the H pipes seemed more popular, today most guys go with the X pipe, but on the V6 I still think I would do an H pipe for the sound. I seen an S550 V6 on Youtube that sounded awesome, I forget the setup, I'll have to find the link.

i believe x pipes and h pipes are made to delete the resonator so its unlikely you will be able to put one of the two on and keep the resonator. ive read that the difference between the two are that H is more grumble x is a little raspier but only at higher RPMs most say they cant tell a difference between the two. also x pipe was supposedly getting like 1-3 HP more than H pipe due to better flow which you probably wouldnt be able to tell.

Responses so far seem to be V8-centric.

A V6 does not have the same slightly choppy low-frequency rumble caused by the firing order that is built into crossplane crank V8's (cylinders in the same bank occasionally firing in sequence). So there really isn't anything for the "X" to eliminate, and it's doubtful that there's enough difference in backpressure to matter as far as power is concerned.

Resonances within the two V6 exhaust arrangements probably differ, so they wouldn't sound exactly the same as a result. But going from H to X, a sixxer isn't going to get anywhere near the change in sound that a V8 gets. I wouldn't expect either an H or an X to change a sixxer's basic sound much at all, as long as the cats and resonators remain in place.
