19 without batting an eye... you can add sync 3 and leather seat covers (I did) but you can’t add the gen 3 engine. The trans gear ratios arent better in the 19 but that sure wouldn’t keep me from buying it. You’ll probably also get better financing options with the 19.

My questions are more in regards to if it’s a good price or not as opposed to which is better. If it’s a 300a, that price doesn’t seem great, IMO. 301a is the lowest trim I think I’d be willing to do for used at that price ($32k). Keep in mind Ford has 0% financing on new cars.

does it have CarPlay? if not can it be added?
I don't have an iPhone. I have never owned one, so I can't comment on CarPlay. The '16 MY had Sync3 with Android Auto as I used to own a '16 MY. The only Sync 2 S550 Mustang MY was the 2015 MY.

A 2020 base GT with PP1 and active exhaust (the only options we know of) has a MSRP of $43,165. A good/great deal would be 10/15% off making the car $38848/$36690. That's an additional $4/$6K. If OP can afford that then maybe new is the way to go. If going from $26K (for the16') to $32K is a stretch than it might be a decent deal. If it is a 300A car I would try and get down to $30K.

For reference, MSRP on a 2020 301a with PP + AE is $45,165, a 300a would be $43,165. (Adding Sync3 to a 300a is approximately $1k aftermarket)
Again, though, that’s MSRP, selling price for either should he considerably less after negotiations. For example (300a PP but missing AE): https://www.koonsfordbaltimore.com/...ormance Package&packages=Equipment Group 300A
Take into account the 0% financing and unless OP is paying in full, the price difference could be negligible for new vs used.

You’re not accounting for the current 0% financing offers from Ford. Interest adds up :)

Totally agree but we do not know how OP was going to pay for either of the used cars. Maybe he has cash?
Yes, I mentioned this:

:)

BTW, clarification: I’m not necessarily advocating the OP buys new instead, I’m using it as a basis to whether or not the $32k on the used 19 is a “good price”. OP could even use the knowledge of what new ones are going for to help negotiate a better price.

The '19 also has the upgraded LED headlights as standard.

I can’t see a dealer giving me a price anywhere close to 32k on this car with performance package. I’m
Also active duty and in the state I’m buying I don’t have to pay sales tax on a private party purchased vehicle

I still say the 19 but have you looked to see what dealers have? There are some pretty decent deals on leftover 2019's, and yes there are still some out there to be had. I'm a comfort type of person and made the mistake once of buying a base model to only realize that I should have moved a little up in the comfort line when buying because I missed out on a few things that I really wanted. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking on the base at all.

Good points. Here is what you get with the 301A for the base GT

The 301A Equipment Group includes all 300A content plus the following features:
• Nine (9) Speaker Stereo System
• Ambient Lighting with MyColor and 4.2" Cluster
• Dual-Zone Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (DEATC)
• Selectable Drive Modes with Toggle switches
• SiriusXM® Radio
• SYNC® 3 – Enhanced Voice Recognition Communications and Entertainment System, 8" LCD Capacitive Touchscreen in center stack, AppLink® , 911 Assist® , Apple CarPlay(TM) and Android Auto(TM) Compatibility, Smart-Charging USB ports - two (2)

If there is anything here that you would like or better yet would miss not having please factor that into your decision.

primarily mountain roads, too and from work and maybe 5 HPDE a year
Ok based on that, both the 16 and 19 M6 will be fine.
