OK I am going to keep this one simplistic. I am just curious on which month you think that Ford should begin sales of the Mustang (in ALL models) for the new model year. In other words selling a 2016 model vehicle in 2015. Let us assume EB4, V6 and V8 GT's in both coupe and convertible. Let us just ignore any special models right now (i.e. GT500, GT350, Boss302, etc.). And when I say Ford beginning sales I mean cars are rolling onto dealer lots for purchase to the public, not pre-order or pre-sale or order banks open or anything like that. Actual month that you can hit the dealer lot and purchase and drive away a new Mustang.

Again I don't mean this year of course, but in the future MY 2016 and out. This is just your preference as well or when you think they should.

I don't understand how MYs work in the car world. I feel like OEMs started selling 2015 MYs by January of 2014.

Won't matter to me either way. I like the sound of 2015 and 50th anniversary.

They can. You can sell a 2015 model year car on no earlier than January 1st, 2014, no earlier. There is a law/guideline for that. 2016 model year cars may be sold no earlier than January 1st, 2015, and so on. Manufacturers are all over the place. I'm just curious when everyone thinks Ford should start selling a new Mustang in which month. :)

I probably also should have prefaced this with Northern Hemisphere. Not to discriminate but I'm glad you posted up. :)

March. It's looking like Spring is on the horizon in most of the country and taxes are on their way back (or close to it) in order to make some fun spending decisions with.

For a fun and absolutely not necessary car one would think that the start of nice weather would be the perfect time.

March/April.... The latest version of the mustang should be hitting right as spring does not just in time for fall and snow tires

Tradition puts it in the September/October time frame, but I guess I can't say why.

In recent years, Mustang has started at the beginning of the previous year. We supplied parts starting with the 2012 MY for both Mustang and the F-150 Raptor, and the Mustang launched a full year sooner. It appears that Ford intends to realign the S550 production with the traditional model year start, but since 2014 production started in early '13, it has run a long year...

Anyway, I voted September because I'm generally one for tradition. Even if I can't explain it :D

I've tried to stay out of this debate as much possible and the poll. But in a logical sense, why the hell would you have the next model year all the way up in a current model year. Just defeats the purpose however, I totally understand a complete makeover year. It totally makes sense that any auto manufacturer releases a vehicle for the next fiscal year...in October of the current calendar year. It's been done like that for as long as I can remember.
If they did it way early in the year then what is the point of having a current MY in the first place and cut out production to it so early in the year? Some vehicles become flat after several years with only minor upgrades so that part is understood. Between the 2005 & 2014 years the mustang definitely looks its best for 2014. Besides, it sure feels just in time for the spring depending the way you look at it. For those in the south does not matter very much as we get mild to some very nasty winters... for some complain that you would not be driving it in the winter... I personally won't be driving it nasty weather. What it seems to me is that some people have just found another thing to bitch about.

The only reason is marketing. It sounds better if your new car is "early" to market, versus late for a given year (after your competitor's start of production).
