Im actually looking forward to the turbo 4. I believe since Mercedes cla amg and civic type r. Are getting 350+ hp motors. I believe ford will bring more power to the game. Like around 370+. Add that and the 10 speed tranny auto them and chevy are going in together with. Will be a 40+ mpg mustang. Me myself would get a stick of course. The potential in the 2.3 could be the best any 4 cyl ever. Especially if ford makes it all forged internals. If thats the case the. Put on some bolt ons. A e85 tune. Your looking at 400 hp at the wheels. In a good light car with irs. Would be the ultimate driving machine.
Amen. If the V8s got direct injection and subsequent bump in compression to increase efficiency, I might not know which to choose...but the current 5L is just 'ok' as a daily driver, in my opinion.

Not sure if this has been shared elsewhere on the site...

So we're looking at about 350 min on the 2.3t stock. With lower wieght and irs. I can see this car easily hitting 60 in 5 sec flat. Maybe better.

As long as the gearing and tire size allows the car to reach a little past 60 mph in 2nd, anyway. One straight-back shift doesn't hurt too much, but I wouldn't want to also have to make that slightly more time-consuming dog-leg shifter motion to 3rd (with its lower acceleration once you're there) when tenths of seconds count.

I wonder what kind of tunes ford will bring out with the turbo four like they do with the focus st and the fiesta st. If they get. A stage 3 400 hp with a ford factory warranty. Sign me up!

I'm looking forward to seeing the tunes from both Ford and aftermarket. The aftermarket ones tend to be more aggressive so I'll have to weigh whether it's worth getting one during warranty period and giving up warranty on the engine.

Don't know if we'll see 400hp but that would be awesome. Does Ford have a Stage 3 for the Focus and Fiesta ST that already hit 400hp?

No since the st is a 2.0 its wheel horsepower is 290 at the wheels with the stage 3 so thats ruffly 340 at the crank. Now the 2.3 turbo in the rs focus in europe I believe stock is 350 @ crank. But ive seen some tuned ones on youtube close to 500hp. So its very realistic to hit 400 at the wheels since rumors are there going to use the same motor.

I haven't been following news on the ecoboost 4 cyl engine, has it been confirmed that it's the engine from the Focus RS?

In that case, I'd still expect a Mustang version to show up in slightly different tune due in part to the necessary differences in intake and exhaust plumbing.

Yah. True. But seeing it gets the rs to 60 in mid 5 sec range in a front wheel drive. Alittle more power and rwd your going to see 5 sec flat. Put a tune .exhaust. And other bolt ons. Your looking at a v8 killer on the drags. And a brz killer in the corner. Considering all the lightweight stuff and irs suspension. God I cant wait.

It may have the same displacement and a turbo, but that doesn't mean it's the same engine from the RS. Not to mention the layout of the engine.

Yes. The rs 2.3 is older now. Im sure the revision version coming out will be better. Im pretty sure ford will add the overboost feature like they do with the fiesta. Im willing to bet this motor will have over 300 hp. And torque will be available down low. This little engine should run all over the v6 in acceleration. O and dont forget the insurance savings. Its going to ve classified as a 4cyl. So should be pretty good on insurance premiums.

Eh true. But most the v8 guys around me stay stock. So it should be fun to play. Just like the 2000ish v8 transam I smacked down today in my modded ram. Yah im modded including a 3000 stall. he had exhaust and a manual. But I still smacked him around in a 4700 pound brick on wheels. He didnt look to pleased that a truck beat his car.
